  1. Many happy returns Darren, hope you have a great day matey.
  2. Thanks for your kind words Andrew and encouragement.
  3. Now I’ve got some skip tin I started making the side panels. I’ve made cardboard templates for the tool tray and the near side panel which is shorter than the original. I marked the tin and cut it with a jigsaw as snips weren’t strong enough, easy to bend with the brake press in the vice. One made just gotta drill some holes.
  4. They don’t have cast iron seats Andrew, they have pressed steel and I’ve got the odd one or six . I have found a pair and will use them.
  5. While i was having a cuppa and a mince pie i came up with another idea, I borrowed the rear fender kit off my Suburban to see how it looks. Now i only have one original fender so do i make 4 8inch wheels, or 2 tool trays and 4 fenders. How hard can that be .
  6. Managed to get some shed time today while Pam was at the stove. Ive offered up the side panels and fitted the rear hubs and wheels, I wanted to fit the 12 inch wheels instead of the 8 inch as they had rotted away but in doing so I’ve got to lift the rear fender over 3 inches to get clearance and it looks out of place.
  7. Brakes all fitted and working so a bit more done.
  8. Just seen the show will go ahead on the 15/16 August 2020. What great news. .
  9. Just Like to wish all friends and forum users a very happy Christmas and new year, Looking forward to another good year of rallying and having fun with our toys. . Chris & Pam.
  10. I’ve got some brake linings from a Morris marina ( i think ) that i will bond to the band. All bonded up with high power adhesive so will fit them all tomorrow.
  11. Had a look at the brakes today or lack of them now I’ve got some skip metal. First job to cut 2 strips, had to use the jig saw then drill to holes and bolt it on. Then bend it round the pulley and weld the piece of angle on.
  12. looking at the rear wheels, I think there Knackered as they’ve rusted through the bolt holes and I don’t have anymore although I have some narrow 12 inch wheels that would fit on the tranny with hubs. That raises another problem with the rear fender that i found when i offered it all up. Uuummmm.
  13. Looking in skips as i do, I found some sheets of tin I thought would come in handy and they were free.
  14. Now Bill and Ben have their front axles fitted with spindles and track-rods. Steering feels nice and positive so I’m pleased with that.
  15. Many happy returns James, hope you have a great day
  16. Makes all the difference with the decals on
  17. No i didn’t, all the rod-ends i have are right hand thread and I don’t have a left hand thread die.
  18. Early update as I’m going out tonight, I managed to get the other 2 track-rods done this afternoon so another tick of the list.
  19. I cut the threads by hand Alan, I’m not that advanced with my lathe work yet.
  20. I didn’t buy the bar either, it came from Johns .
  21. Today I’ve been looking at track-rods, all the ones i have seem to have play in them and as ive got a few ends in stock I thought I’d make some new ones without buying anything. Started with a length of rod cut into 4 lengths and machined down in the lathe and threads cut. Done two to see if they work which they do so I’ll make another pair tomorrow.
  22. Bill and Ben get their hoodstands cleaned up and a coat of primer today. Had a look at the side panels and they look a bit rotten along the bottom and ive only got one pair so I’m gonna need some sheet tin to make a new pair.
  23. Small update as it’s a day of rest. Ive sanded off the steering parts and given them a primer fitted together and fitted them in the chassis’s. Ive noticed the Lawn Ranger doesn’t have the bush at the end of the lower rod and its not listed in the parts manual but as i have a few in stock I’ve fitted them.
