Wheel Horse Gear Box Oil

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on draining and doing a compleat refill on my gearbox for my raider 10.

Oil needed is castrol XXL

Is there a modern day equivalent? If so what is it? what oils do you guys use?

Thanks

Charlie, you can use EP80 or EP90. Both are good modern equivalents.

I actually use 10W40 in project C4. If it's good enough for a car engine and gearbox then it's good enough for a horse transmission. It just leaks faster :D

I believe it is EP80 or EP90 for a WH but the specification for a Bolens is EP90, 2.5QTS if I remember correctly.

I am unsure if a WH leaks more than a Land Rover, probably a draw ;-)
