nathanwhittaker 50 #126 Posted October 12, 2014 Cheers buddy I'm in two minds either to make a stack or do it original and fit a side exit dumpy one but they are quite loud unless I do cut the end off and fill it full of exhaust muffling stuff. Yours looks great by the way
Rocboni 257 #127 Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) The original the better, I would say. It's up to personal taste, but when I restore my machines I try to make them as original as possible. Edited October 12, 2014 by Rocboni

expeatfarmer 591 #130 Posted October 12, 2014 Nathan I have an old original dumper exhaust which has been blown by a backfire you are welcome to it if you want to either repair it or copy for a new one. Alternatively you can buy a new one from Steenet and Son , Ipswich who still have some old stock.
nathanwhittaker 50 #131 Posted October 12, 2014 I might try them and get a new one
nathanwhittaker 50 #132 Posted October 14, 2014 Good evening all. I've had a quick hour on the crawler trying too make a exhaust. My Lister decided too lend me its exhaust what I believe is near the original it should have on. The next stage is too cut the end of and fill with wadding to dampen the sound and weld back up. I'm going to have too tap the head for the Exhaust manifold due too the lack of threads so that's why I've added on the extra bracket.
nathanwhittaker 50 #133 Posted October 14, 2014 the exhaust is actually a little shorter now tho
Stormin 4,458 #134 Posted October 14, 2014 the exhaust is actually a little shorter now tho Just as well. Sticking out like that it could catch on a forklift. 1 nathanwhittaker reacted to this

expeatfarmer 591 #136 Posted October 14, 2014 Hi Nathan The standard silencer is about 7" dia. and about 4" deep but looks very similar to the one you have made, no wadding in it though.
nathanwhittaker 50 #137 Posted October 14, 2014 Not yet buddy how would u put wadding in it do you just pack it full and the exhaust gasses go thru it ?
Rocboni 257 #138 Posted October 15, 2014 yes, you just pack it in, its just heat resistant fabric and absorbs the noise as the gasses go through.
nathanwhittaker 50 #139 Posted October 15, 2014 I can get it locally but they say it's a foam block they have now will that be ok
Rocboni 257 #140 Posted October 15, 2014 never heard of foam, if it does the same thing i can't see it being a problem.
nathanwhittaker 50 #141 Posted October 15, 2014 I will pick some up and give it a try
nathanwhittaker 50 #142 Posted October 15, 2014 Does any of my friends on here know how the fuel pipe routes on this
expeatfarmer 591 #143 Posted October 15, 2014 Hi Nathan Fuel pipe runs along the floor up the front of the gearbox and is then posted through the brake band chamber through the hole in the right hand side as you sit on the seat. Alternatively you can route it underneath and come up at the carb side of the engine as per MG6 and 40.
nathanwhittaker 50 #144 Posted October 15, 2014 Once you posted thru the brake chamber does that end up in the engine bay
Rocboni 257 #145 Posted October 15, 2014 Yes after you go through the front of it as well, easier just to run straight underneath then up to the carb.
nathanwhittaker 50 #146 Posted October 15, 2014 Sound I will have a look on sat thanks guys
nathanwhittaker 50 #147 Posted October 16, 2014 I don't have another hole in the front ofof my gear box for the fuel pipe to go thru ?
Rocboni 257 #148 Posted October 17, 2014 Strange, the pipe must have been routed underneath the gearbox then.
nathanwhittaker 50 #149 Posted October 17, 2014 I'm going too lift it up and put it on stands and have a proper look 1 diggerjames reacted to this
Dibnah 19 #150 Posted October 17, 2014 Fuel pipe ran underneath Nathan and was sheathed in a pipe, I removed it as it had rotted.
