meadowfield 1,900 #5 Posted January 14, 2015 what engine, how many gears and is there a model number plate under/on the hoodstand. Guessing 1-0130.... Btw it's later than 1969 because of the hood and footplates, engine looks like an 8hp kohler - and I think I spy an old style battery tray
Jackthehat 14 #6 Posted January 14, 2015 Unsure on the gears as I have closed up the shed what year do you reckon mate I'm guessing 8hp too

the showman 4,074 #16 Posted January 16, 2015 First thing I would do is drain and refill the tranny, it might have water in it quite common on these. Have the engine at idle and make sure the belt stops when you press the clutch
Stormin 4,458 #17 Posted January 16, 2015 And just incase you don't know, don't try to change gear on the move.
Jackthehat 14 #18 Posted January 16, 2015 The belt doesn't stop when clutch is down an even when it does it grinds
Tom 215 #19 Posted January 17, 2015 Hi Jackthehat, Nice tractor you have there. Regarding the transmission problem if the gears are grinding when you put them in it's probably because the transmission is still spinning so try to avoid this as it can cause damage. Do you have a belt guard in place? I can't see from the pictures. Also, do you have any belt guides in place? These will help shape the belt so that it does touch or grip the engine pulley meaning the belt shouldn't spin. Tom
