 Had a bit of a break from the C-121 today. Called at my local Land Rover specialists this morning and left with a pair of leather front seats for the Discovery. These are now fitted.   I'll pick the rears up later this week.

Looks great. I have leather seats in my Disco and the heaters are essential in the winter. It also appeals to my sense of humour as I enjoy switching the passenger heater on in the summer when the boss is not looking. That usually livens up a dull journey

  Don't know if I'll bother with heated seats. All the wiring is there, but no switches. It is a Land Rover Special Vehicles Disco. Originally a commercial, but with a full floor and partition behind the front seats. Rear doors have no window motors or switches fitted either.

That's a very tidy commercial Disco. Not many of those around in that condition.

I was offered one about 7 years ago but was put off as the owner's dog destroyed the interior including chewing the steering wheel to bits. I thought if that the cabin, what's the back like!

It is in good nick. Got 233,000 miles on the clock, but we don't think it's the original engine. Had new gearbox and clutch about 1-1/2 years back. Not got the character my 90 had though.

My td5 has just clocked 210,000 miles on original engine , still going strong .

Have been contemplating getting shot of her but she just does so well I can't bring myself to let her go , although I would like another 90 or 110 ,

I remember having a second hand tdi engine fitted in my 110 & the bloke that fitted it made a complete pigs ear of putting the engine in and did not clip any of the fuel pipes on so the vibration of the engine broke all the knuckles on the fuel lines so I refused to pay the last three hundred pounds that I owed for fitting the engine . Thus I ended up. Getting acid thrown in my face as a result on my 35 birthday.

Suffice to say I got my own back , but I can't say what I did in case we have a policeman on the forum.

I have had my TD5 for 10 years now. After three years I looked at replacing it with a Disco3 but I didn't like it and the boss didn't want me to get a Defender, so I stuck with it. Last year when it clocked up 90,000 I tested a Disco4 and really loved it, but it didn't have character that the TD5 has. Equally the TD5 does not have the character of the Defender.

 

I don't want to talk up problems but my TD5 has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It has seen some serious off road action and I always have something attached to the tow bar. Other than servicing I have replaced the rear air bags, one injector and for some reason the headlight bulbs blow every couple of years. It even still has the original battery!

 

It has been a very long time since I have owned something this old with this many miles on but given the miles you guys have on yours, it does not sound like I have much to worry about.

 

The plan now is to keep it as long as possible and you never know it may even outlive me. I may buy a Defender or something else to use as well but I have not decided yet.
