If Stormin and Showman can do it... my first time ploughing

Recommended Posts

I've two mouldboard ploughs and only ever stuck them in the ground a few times, so on the back of Chris great pics - and Ewan wanting to plant potatoes....

Late sunday we hooked up Bendy and went over to the over side of the stream, it's rough grass that never gets animals on, mowed or ploughed.

The first pass went ok, I have to go deep to leave a furrow wide enough for a 12" wheel to fit :D    It was hard going, too high a gear and the engine belt slips. So its a slowly and surely run - until we hit tree roots and rocks.

Here are the pics, enjoy

what size tyres are on bendy? since it doesn't really matter to much if you run over the previously turned over soil a bit. from the pics it looks like you've got plenty of room for the wheels

That's not bad considering the ground. Just needs going over with disc's then rotavating.

discs yes, not sure I want to use the NOS rotavator - seems a shame!

23x10.50-12   because of the way bendy steers it twists the plough, when a wheel runs up the side of the furrow it all gets a bit wobbly!

:goodpost:  Looks good to say the field may not have seen a plough or spade in its life.

Potatoes will or should grow in that sort of ground...
