Charlie Smith 192 #1 Posted May 31, 2016 Evening all, I picked this up today and I'm not entirely sure what it is, its not the normal shape mini tractor look alike ride on it's one of them snapper ride on's, the surface rust is all over however its not rot anywhere even the deck is solid and everything is free turning. I poured some petrol into the plug hole and she fired up, shouldn't need to much to get it running and driving again, it is chain driven from the gearbox to the rear axle. it says landmaster on it? I'm pretty sure I've heard that name thrown about on here? Can anyone tell me what this is? and is it worth keeping and restoring? or is it just a common muck? Many Thanks Charlie. 2 Triumph66 and S1g reacted to this
pmackellow 2,738 #2 Posted May 31, 2016 If I remember correctly Landmaster, who were based at Poole in Dorset in the 1970's imported and sold Gilson tractors under licence, hence the Landmaster Gilson decal. I doubt its that common Charlie.
pmackellow 2,738 #3 Posted May 31, 2016 In the 1960's Landmaster marketed a ride on mower which I think was another rebadged import, this is mine dating from 1966... 2 S1g and Triumph66 reacted to this

pmackellow 2,738 #12 Posted June 19, 2016 By the (limited) information I have on these I would say its about 1970/71 vintage... I'll get the number off the engine, that will be a good guide...
pmackellow 2,738 #13 Posted January 14, 2017 Landmaster Gilson not forgotten, just waiting its turn in the queue to be looked at...
pmackellow 2,738 #14 Posted January 14, 2017 Latest Lawn and Garden Tractor magazine arrived from the USA today, in it there's an article on Gilson tractors mentioning that they are not that common even in the States so I would imagine even less common over here, so although not everyones cup of tea its well worth saving
Stormin 4,458 #15 Posted January 14, 2017 Have you dated it yet, Paul. If pretty rare then well worth saving.
