Stormin 4,458 #1 Posted August 21, 2018 Returning home from R.P.T. and Biddenden, due to the A1 being closed for some reason, I had to use the M1 and M6. Mile after mile of roadworks and 50mph limits. All this work is for the so called Smart Motorways. What's smart about doing away with the hard shoulder? How many people will be killed and injured when they have nowhere to go, if experiencing a breakdown, puncture etc? I think it's down right stupid and dangerous, if not criminal. 4 Fix'em all, pmackellow, slf-uk and 1 other reacted to this
slf-uk 914 #2 Posted August 21, 2018 This does sound very much like putting the cart before the horse. Until smart drivers can be created by improving the quality of the average driver, it could easily be a disaster.
Scottwilson 76 #3 Posted August 22, 2018 The hard shoulder itself is a dangerous place to end up let alone the removal of it and having to sit on a live lane until your noticed by a computer or cctv operator .
