CNew 404 #1 Posted September 7, 2019 Recent addition to the collection is a Derby Tiller. Here are the as-received photos. Definitely needs a good clean-up. It might be a little while before I get to this one but I’ll add some photos as soon as I can do an initial wipe down. 2 pmackellow and Wallfish reacted to this
Wallfish 698 #2 Posted September 7, 2019 Another nice find. With the popularity of those little Mantis tillers, I'm surprised we don't see more of these. Luckily the entire fuel vent is still on there. These were also badged under a few different names
CNew 404 #3 Posted September 7, 2019 Yes, I was quite pleased to find this. I had hoped some day I might come across one and I did unexpectedly. It looks to be complete. I might put it all back together today just for grins if I get some time. The fuel vent is all cracked and pieces of plastic are missing so it’s junk and I’ll have to figure out an alternative. I agree, seems like more of these would pop up given how common the newer mini tillers seem to be.

factory 487 #5 Posted September 7, 2019 Another nice find, it's a re-brand of the Little Wonder Power-Head with Cultivator attachment, they also made a Snow-Blower attachment, I have neither of these. I nearly bought one of the Derby Tiller versions a few years back, but the guy never got back to me on the international shipping so it never happened. I'm guessing not many survive as they probably got chucked out when the blades got broken or worn out. David
factory 487 #6 Posted September 7, 2019 The manual for the Little Wonder Power-Head & attachments can be found here, need to move them to the sticky thread. David
CNew 404 #7 Posted September 7, 2019 David, Thanks for the link to the manual, this is great!

Back when you got the Little Wonder hedge trimmer I thought you were looking into designing & making a replacement with 3D printing? David
CNew 404 #9 Posted September 9, 2019 Ha, yes I was but I recently left that job. I might still be able to get a buddy to make one for me sometime.

David It might take a little time since I just started a new job but I may have access to another technology that might make for a great solution for these little vents. Wallfish 698 #11 Posted September 27, 2019 Sorry Clint. I took these for ya a couple weeks ago but don't believe I ever sent them to you. The last pic is the shaft with the engine removed
CNew 404 #12 Posted September 27, 2019 John, Much appreciated, these photos are really helpful so I can make sure my tiller goes back together correctly. It looks like my handle linkage is correct so that’s good to know.
Wallfish 698 #13 Posted September 27, 2019 Wish they made other attachments to fit the engine head design. It's very simple to attach and disconnect. Snowblower, brush cutter, outboard ect ect.
CNew 404 #14 Posted September 27, 2019 I agree, thought the same thing the first time I mounted the engine. That threaded shaft and keyed collar are quite nice.

CNew 404 #18 Posted September 28, 2019 Thanks JUST O&R! Headed to the desert.... I couldn’t agree more- I aim to get the workbench out and unpack the O&R stuff as quickly as possible. Even when I can’t work on them it’s fun just looking at them and planning the next project. Like you said, they are a good support system. Cheers!
Wallfish 698 #19 Posted September 28, 2019 Going from freeze land MN to the burning desert? Do you like extremes?
CNew 404 #20 Posted September 28, 2019 Apparently ... you never know where the road is going to take you.... I’m going to miss the lush green and lakes and fall colors for sure. I guess tumble weeds and cactus are pretty in their own way too.
JUST O&R 237 #21 Posted September 29, 2019 We never know were we will end up. just go with the flow . good luck
