factory 487 #1 Posted March 3, 2020 Well I've accidentally bought myself a O&R powered mini-bike . It's one I've not seen before, does anyone recognise it? David 5 pmackellow, Craig H, Fishnuts2 and 2 others reacted to this
pmackellow 2,738 #2 Posted March 3, 2020 Oh that is different, I like that !!
CNew 404 #3 Posted March 3, 2020 Wow, very nice! Do you think that is an original product or a custom use of an engine? It looks kind of like an O&R bicycle engine applied to a pumper cycle.
Wallfish 698 #4 Posted March 4, 2020 Nice score Pretty sure that something like that was posted on the old forum. I remember seeing that seat design before
JUST O&R 237 #5 Posted March 4, 2020 That's very unique and in beautiful shape. That's a chain drive down to the front tire ?
CNew 404 #6 Posted March 5, 2020 I didn’t notice the chain drive at first, that’s pretty cool! David- can you add a photo of the front view?
factory 487 #7 Posted March 8, 2020 The picture I posted was from the listing, I will take some of my own when it is here. I was wondering if the engine or starter had been replaced as the military green looks out of place with the rest. And yes it has chain drive to the front wheel, as well as the standard O&R throttle control on one of the handles. On 3/3/2020 at 9:30 PM, CNew said: Wow, very nice! I did check though all the other mini-bikes I had pictures of & magazine articles on (see manuals thread for links) and couldn't see anything that matched this either as an original product or build it yourself project. Wallfish 698 #8 Posted March 8, 2020 Thought he showed it apart too. Does that come a part easily into 3 pieces?
factory 487 #9 Posted March 8, 2020 Not sure, but it was indeed shown in three parts. David
factory 487 #10 Posted March 8, 2020 Looking at the pictures & description it looks to have a quick release mechanism & two pins for the two main parts, same as modern bikes do for some parts. David
factory 487 #11 Posted March 15, 2020 Here are some more pictures of the mystery mini-bike, sorry @CNew just noticed I haven't taken a complete front view picture. No tools are required to separate the three parts, it has a spring loaded mechanism for the frame & the seat section just slides in. pmackellow 2,738 #12 Posted March 15, 2020 Thats really neat, I like that !
CNew 404 #13 Posted March 15, 2020 Thanks for posting the pics, that thing is really cool! I like how it breaks apart, neat design. Is that a Type 133 engine?
factory 487 #14 Posted March 15, 2020 Just now, CNew said: Is that a Type 133 engine? No it isn't, it's a Type 215 engine with gearbox, I think the starter housing may have got swapped at some point, the Type 133 engine doesn't have a gearbox. David
CNew 404 #15 Posted March 15, 2020 Cool, just saw the dark green recoil housing and didn’t even consider the gear box...
factory 487 #16 Posted April 13, 2021 Looking at the list I have, it states the Type 215 engine was used on a Minibike from Aerocycle Inc. I don't think there is any connection with modern companies using that name. David
