    O&R .23s

Hello, I recently acquired 2 O&R 23s for a very good deal. I've been flying glow engines in my planes for about a year and a half now, but wanted to get into gas and these little engines seemed like a great start. If I get them running good I might even put them into my RC DC-3 :). I already have both engines taken apart and the internals are quite clean. Pleasantly surprised for engines that can be as old or older than myself. I'm going to mount a carb on both to convert them to R/C. I'm not really sure on how these engines really work, specifically the spark/ignition part. I know back in their days there were ignition coils to produce the spark. Those small coils seem few and far between now so I have been trying to find alternatives. Has anyone used CDI on these old sparkies? I have bought an used CDI unit to test it out. What else can I use to run ignition with these engines? Any help would be appreciated, Noah.

    Ransom Roller.

As most will know, Jonathan, (expeatfarmer), has sold most of his collection of Ransom crawlers. He did have two large Ransom reel mowers. These attracted no interest. So Jonathan removed the engines and made a roller out of one. Another friend of mine bought that off him after I took him to see it. I bought the remains of the other. Below is what I got plus the handles. First mod was to trim the bottoms of the sides, so they wouldn't dig in when behind one of my garden tractors. Next fit the handles. But in front instead of behind to make the draw bar. Two of the side offcuts were made into plates. Utilising the holes already there. A pin off the Cabstar tipper I once owned, makes a good hitch pin. Behind the Sears/Roper ready for a trial. Worked grand though the roller could do with being a little wider. Width of the wheels. But I can't do anything about that. I can offset it on the Sears hitch if I need too. Next job is a frame for the top to carry weights.
