I need some service manuals and owners manuals for these saws. Also need a carb for the bottom one. Any help appreciated.

Newest addition to the collection, just picked up this Comet saw this morning. Pictures are as-purchased condition. I’ll add some more photos once I’ve had a chance to clean it up and go through it a little.

    David,
Thank you very much for taking the time to capture this wealth of great information - this is indeed very kind of you and an amazing resource to all of us that enjoy collecting these O&Rs!

    Cheers!

CNew reacted to factory in ORline Hedge Trimmer
I was indeed a little bit skeptical, but mainly due to using water, I just thought it would quickly rust again.
There are plenty more rusty chrome handles on O&R's here that will benefit from the same treatment.

I've also found out why the starter mechanism of this trimmer was reluctant to move, turns out some of the spot welds on the starter reel have failed, as soon as I loosened the spring housing screws the cord returned easily.
It's been like this for a long time as part of the starter reel edge has become very sharp where it has worn against the starter spring. I'm going to find out if it can be repaired.

On the plus side this problem has prevented that crumbly air filter foam from getting into the engine.

That certainly looks like something that could be scanned and 3D printed with either FDM or SLS technology in a Nylon material or even a higher performance polymer like PPSU, PEI or PEKK.  If you decide to get it scanned sometime let me know and maybe I can give it a go with 3D printing.

Might even be a good candidate for a machined version in aluminum. Heck it could also be machined from a stock shape of polymer.

CNew reacted to factory in Tiny Tor Generator Model 30A (Algert Co.)
Looks like I never added this one here (it was posted on the old forum), this Tiny Tor generator was the first O&R I acquired back in 2012 and it started my interest & my collection of these little engines.
It's the Tiny Tor Model 30A (distributed by Algert Co. of Los Angeles) with a 220/240 volt AC outlet, as well as the standard battery charging output found on the similar Tiny Tiger generators.

This strange saw uses a blade with teeth on it which are like a chainsaw. Cuts about a 3/4 inch size dado joint into lumber and is believed to be used for lumber framing. 2 passes will make a groove to fit a 2 x 4 standard US stud

I love the clock you made using the Kohler engine cover, I was thinking of doing that for my early 1960s Cub Cadet 100.

youve got a beautiful display of O&R tools, amazing!

Did some investigating today in search of a replacement kill switch for one that is broken on one of my O&R tools.  I thought this might be helpful if anyone else is in need of a similar replacement.

The little red push button switch looks to be identical to the Switchcraft 951 from Switchcraft. They have a model “A”, “B”, and “C” and I think it is the “A” version. I have one on order and will confirm once I receive it.

This photo is of a good working order switch on a Drillgine.

Very Nice!  I almost purchased those off eBay - glad you got them, especially since you have both tools in your collection!  Nice examples of the tools by the way.

I think there is another similar brochure listed on eBay right now in case you haven’t seen it.

Thanks David - that was going to be my guess but it seemed like a little bit of an unusual place for a gasket.  I guess it would help dampen the vibration.
I’m about to cut two new gaskets for the gearbox on the Drillgine so we will see how that goes. I’ve got a new punch set to try out.

    David,
Thank you for researching through all your info. The Bridges reference is great to know, that’s much less oil than it would take to fill the gearbox chambers so that helps me think the amount needed is just enough to keep things generally lubed. When I cleaned everything this afternoon the only trace of remaining oil had all dried up and if I had to guess may have been about a teaspoon worth all said and done for what I probably scraped out.  My drill is like the one in your second photo with the two fill holes.

    David,
This is great information, you never cease to amaze me the amount of info you have on these engines!  I’ll take a closer look at everything on the engine and double check that things are set up correctly with the Governor.

CNew reacted to factory in Creme Lure Company & Nichols Ind. Inc. Super Portable Generator
    The models mentioned in this thread so far;
Creme Lure Model S (AC outlet only)
Creme Lure Model C (AC outlet + Charging at 6V/12V)
Nichols Model D (AC outlet + Charging at 6V/12V), this one made twice the price of the Creme Lure versions.

Mine also has the red cap for the carb needle, the hole added to the handle looks like a previous owners modification .

Another picture I archived to my computer, showing the coils through the damaged casing, not sure whether it was a delivery victim or the plastic become brittle with age.

    Nope!
Mine is also a Creme Lure but for some reason thought it was a Nichols. It does have the DC connections and good plastic without warping in it.
Maybe there's also a Nichols out there?
Never spent any time on this since it was bought except pulling out the old batteries. My O&R stuff has been neglected for far too long.
    Here's some pics of it

    6 and 12v connections

Has this little red plastic knob on the carb needle adjustment screw

Not sure what or why this hole was made in the handle. The top was ground to be flat for which I would assume would be for a nut to rest flat. ??
