  1. I once had a crawler that started once and ran really well, then I couldn't get it started, condensor looked new however after trying everything else I removed it to find the casing was empty and someone had just fitted the empty casing back into the magneto! Never did understand how the tractor ever ran!
  2. Sounds like a typical day when you own a ransomes crawler!
  3. First shot at free and cutting with the plasma, sketched horse on a sheet of steel and set too with the plasma!
  4. That's how my lathe originally changed speeds, had one adjustable pulley opened and closed by a worm drive motor and the other is sprung, I just set it to the centre and use the inverter as the sped control motor was 3 phase.
  5. Not too far from you Norm, he might ask you to come and collect it with him in a few weeks
  6. Sold pending collection, I'm sure you can all guess who to.
  7. Don't have the space to keep it.
  8. No as it would hit the drive roller (yellow bit) the only thing I can do is to tilt it but it adds to the length. This thing is pulled out but usually those to holes line up underneath the yellow bit
  9. Put rear conveyor on to weld lugs back on, total length 20ft and I can stand under the rear roller and I'm over 6ft
  10. I can tilt it and add plates like this. Ground clearance is 10" or so.
  11. Not very comfy though.. I was thinking of perminantly raising it and adding a spacer to the driveshaft, as it would never be used for actual sand skimming. Need one of those trailers that drops to the ground between the wheels and you lift it with hydraulics. your welcome to pop up one day.
  12. It could be moved if the front auger was lifted up, but the lower flanges will foul on the conveyor roller. I think it would need a hiab on a truck rather than a trailer, or a very long ramp...
  13. If you have deep enough pockets.... They were simply lifted from the side of the sand bed into the bed using a crane, that's all, never made to go up ramps or anything else.
  14. Believe me it's a beast, especially when you engage the auger! It drives and steers really well though. Very impressive bit of engineering. I haven't even got the rear conveyor on yet it's 8ft. The trouble is the front auger only has about 1 1/2" ground clearance, it would be impossible to drive onto a trailer, I am coming to the realisation that I will have to move it on to someone more equipped, the trouble is putting a price on it, it's the only complete one known to exist. I am looking into raising the front auger without cutting anything, maybe using plates.
  15. Well after a fair bit of maneuvering I got the front auger into place!
  16. After some fiddling with the engine, setting tappets and spark to TDC, it started up, too late for a test drive as it has no exhaust ATM. So a tad loud! Brake pedals fitted up aswell as fuel tank. Went and collected the other bits, I have underestimated the size of this, was a task loading it all by myself, with only the winch and boards to use, just have to get it off and onto the tractor somehow...
  17. Join the que.. How did you search for that? It was originally supplied to the South Essex Waterworks Co. On the 7/3/1966 (straight from Ransomes) Bristol or Wessex must have baught it afterwords and registered it with the DVLA.
  18. Going to get you to drive it for me, I know how good you are at it....
  19. Frame back on along with 3 speed and forward/reverse lever. Need to fit up brake pedals with springs ect, fit fuel tank and see if engine runs (been over a year, but is a fully rebuilt engine) after a test drive it will be time for the front auger and rear conveyor frame, I don't think the latter will fit in the shed though....
  20. Frame reconstructive surgery! Putting back what the last owner cut out with a gas torch, why?
  21. So do I, but I want his seat and he wants my skimmer!
  22. That press has been the best thing I've made. Wish I could find a seat, probably going to have to make one as well.
  23. I needed to put a curve on the back of a 3mm sheet 20inches long, after a bit of thought in the press and 10Tones or so, I had a nice curve!
  24. What's left of the old seat runners.....the NOS ones still fits on the rails!
