  1. One of the first things that I do before putting an O&R engine back together after dismantling for cleaning and rebuilding, is to give it a leak down test to see if the seals are good and other areas of possible leakage. First, I leave the carb off. Install the spark plug and tighten. Make sure that the points push rod is in place, preferably with a little o ring lube. I then stretch a balloon over the exhaust, past the rivet on the neck. I found a plastic braided hose, about 4" long, that fits snug in to the carb inlet. I then blow in to the hose until the balloon is pretty full, remove my mouth and put my thumb over the hose inlet. Good seals allow the balloon to deflate at a very slow rate. A decent sized leak can actually be heard, hissing out of the bad seal on the flywheel side or the pto side. Other leaks can be at the spark plug or the push rod o ring. I had one that had hairline cracks in the crankcase and took multiple times to find. It appeared to be an engine that had never been ran and was bad from the factory casting.
  2. Sounds like a possible seal leakage issue that needs more fuel to compensate for air being sucked in. And, John is correct, the carb must be put together correctly for it to perform. Do you hear a slight squish sound when priming? Another sign that the primer is doing it's job. Don't forget, these things can be head bangers.
  3. I have what you are looking for.
  4. As I once read from an old dude that used to work at a shop that serviced O&Rs- "Anytime an O&R came in to the shop for repair, everybody would disappear!"
  5. These little suckers can be very frustrating to work on. I can attest to banging my head on the wall a few times, and I bet Wallfish would say the same!
  6. I'm getting .114. but my mic might be crushing it a bit. I have these if you need one.
  7. So what do you guys think of the correct size "o" ring for an output shaft seal? I'm about out of originals, still good on the crank side.
  8. Good job on the clutch cover! A man of many talents....
  9. Thanks Factory and John! A regular 2 prong, non-grounding plug worked. I'm liking this thing. Can't find one tidbit of info on it tho.
  10. You and I sure think alike.
  11. Anybody know where I can get a curved blade plug for the 110V outlet?
  12. I think that I'll keep it. Paid a bit too much.
  13. I purchased this genset off of a guy that claimed he had an NOS O&R generator and did not have the capability of taking and sending photos. I figured I'd take a chance and thought that it may be a real oddball that I may not have. Well, I received it today and it sure was new in the box, but it was no O&R. Either way, it's pretty cool and a tiny 1.1 hp engine that I've never heard of. After doing some research, I believe that it may be related to a Subaru. Just another variation of a Japanese O&R knockoff.
  14. I should have everything that you need.
  15. Or he was just a fan of the BFH!
  16. Most likely something from your side of the pond. You guys tend to find stuff that we do not have in the states. Unfortunately, it does not look familiar to me. A better picture from the output side would definitely help.
  17. Just dig in to it. You will figure it out. I have quite a few parts to this style saw, including oil pump parts, I believe.
  18. We don't really have any scientific information to identify engines and it would take a lot of work to break them down. Up to this point, I do not know of anybody willing to take on the task. As for output, I just don't think there is much of a measurable difference in any of the hp ratings. Wallfish?
  19. Very cool. Love what I can see of the canoe. What are the symptoms of the Aquabug?
  20. Because they looked cool
  21. Not to discourage you, but I'd be a little leery about putting one of these in to regular use. These things are just not reliable to depend on firing up each day and running smoothly on a regular basis. The parts availability is just not there and the tend to be a little troublesome from the start.
  22. I have many saw parts as well. Between Wallfish and I, we should have you covered.
