I love all the literature you have, very interesting with lots of useful information. I'd love some of those implements!
Tom

It does, it's a very weird mounting arrangement though..
Tom

Sorry to see that you had to sell it, I did see it sell however and glad you got a good price. It will be interesting to see if your dads plough fits the cub!
Tom
-
It's certainly interesting, we will have to watch out for anymore. Correct me if I'm wrong but you have a wheel horse plough don't you? Does that fit your Cub? I ask as the clevis part seems quite wide to me, too wide for a brinly plough.

I see what you mean, I have to admit I hadn't seen one like this before, it's just weird how both Ewans and mine have an identical lift set-up.

Thanks Chris
Hi Ewan,
They seem to have got people thinking, I spoke to a chap in the US and he said that it wasn't original to the tractor but it's weird how they are both identical, unless it was something that was manufactured and fitted over here..

Very nice Cub Ewan, you're also lucky to get all the manuals with it! Are you going to restore it or leave it?
Tom
I'm no Cub expert as I am new to them but I'm pretty sure the springs are factory as they were an option, from what I've read anyway. Apparently spring assist was an option to obviously help lift heavier implements.

Hi all,
As part of the Cub cadet deal I got this plough thrown in, I have no clue what it is for, I am guessing it's for a pedestrian machine. There's still original paint on the mouldboard so it's never been used..
Any ideas?

As much as I'd like a Bolens I really can't buy no more for a while! I will just have to come round yours Iain and drive yours about
Thanks Ian! I think I have been quite lucky recently with finding them close to me, usually they are all down your way or up North! It would be nice to get it running and stick a plough on it for rural past times, hmmm...

Hi Iain,
I am certainly pleased it has the rear lift. I just plonked the engine on there for a picture There is actually a serial number on the reduction box, using a serial number date tool online it dated to January 1963. The registration plate was also registered in 1963.

Thanks for all the comments guys! Before it goes to any shows I need to get the engine running and bolted in properly! It has compression so fingers crossed there isn't too much wrong with it, time will tell..
Tom
-
Sorry you were all wrong
Cub cadet original made in January of 1963 with original registration plate registered in Norfolk..
What do you guys think?
Tom
-
You are too good Paul I wonder if you can guess the model!!
Tom

I have only gone and bought another vintage piece of machinery, not a wheel horse this time though, I didn't expect to see one so close to me but I had to have it! I wonder if you can guess what it is
Except Iain, you are exempt as you have already seen it
Tom

Very nice Chris, you don't seem them very often. I've been looking for a set for a while now and they are always too big!
Tom

Thanks Norm, hopefully I can fix that problem tomorrow

Hi all,
Had some time on the C-120 today. Got it all wired up, new fuel lines and filter and turned the key and off she went. I am very happy. It does smoke a little but I'm hoping a carb clean and de-carbon the head will help. It does run well though and the throttle shaft has minimal wear.
Group photo:
The next things to do are put the new decals on, grip tape on the foot boards, install an ammeter and clean up wiring and fuel lines and finally get a new battery for it. The only other problem is that the headlights work however they are intermittent and it's only when you wiggle the wires they work, faulty connection within the unit I expect? I haven't looked into it but are they sealed or can you split them?
I have a video that I will try and upload later on.

Thanks for the link Iain, that looks very interesting, it would save me a lot of work and make it look near.. I may have to order one or two, it would make sense to order more than one to save on shipping..

Thanks for the tip, I ordered some skateboard grip tape last night for the C120

You don't mess about Norm I bet it feels great to hear it run and have a drive. I thought it would be loud!! What colour are you using for the wheels?
Tom
-
Hi Iain,
That's perfect, I would appreciate if you could bring it next Tuesday, thank you so much. We will have a square up on Tuesday too, I can't give you nothing for it!!

Small update: I have ordered 90% of the parts now. New fuel line and filter, skateboard grip tape for the foot plates, different coloured cable and also battery cable, inline fuse holder and fuse and also some new decals from Mark! I just need a battery, rear tail light bulb and an ammeter and I will be there. In the long run I hope to fit a hydraulic lift and some new tyres. I cannot wait to get this one running!

Hi all,
I have been a bit distracted with my new wheel horse however the 312-8 had it's service and went back into the tractor shed. I haven't really used it for about 3 weeks but it started right up however wouldn't run without some choke, I'm presuming there is some dirt in the carb or something. I actually got it out to test a trailer I quickly banged together. It was an old wheel barrow that was destined for the scrap yard but after a bit of cutting and welding we had a trailer with a drawbar. It's a nice size to haul wood down to the house with!

Hi Alan,
It's a great shame your friend is having to sell his collection off, I expect it has taken many years to gather it all. Although I am glad you have found this forum to move some of it on as you will know it will go to a good home as all the members here are great people! I did see you mentioned about some non-bolens garden tractors, do you know what these ones are?
Good luck with selling the equipment, I'm sure you'll have no problems at all as it seems to be very desirable!
