Looking great so far Norm, excellent job. I bet you have quite a few hours into that hood, I bet it will look amazing!

Wow some absolute bargains there, I also would have paid around double for that GT14, they are cool machines.

Thanks guys, I don't think the bag is original Ian, it's like some sort of plastic, I thought the original was fabric.
Tom

You're getting there now Iain, the H16 looks real nice too!

Thanks Andrew and Nigel No updates yet, hopefully I will get some more done this weekend...

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the positive comments. I can't wait to test it and hope the geometry of it works out OK. There is a fair bit of adjustment on the plough itself so I am hopeful. Keep watching as there is more to come soon

Hi all,
With the recent sale of the Brinly plough for over £600 and having no luck finding one and after seeing Marks amazing adaptation of a Barford atom plough I set about adapting a spare Barford atom plough I had. I only have a slot hitch at the moment so I adapted it to suit a slot hitch but no welding or modification was made to the plough I just used the original bolt holes which means it can be reverted back to a plough for a Barford atom or even changed for a sleeve hitch. I cut a part out of some 8" box section we had to make the L-shaped bracket and then used a piece off of an old forklift carriage for the bar which will go in the slot hitch and be welded to the underside of the L-shaped bracket. It's currently only G-clamped.
I will cut the bracket down so there is no risk of it hitting the fender and so the adjustment lever has enough space to move.

It looks amazing Mark, I bet you're very happy. You have created a monster!

Great photos you did a great job, looks like you had lots of fun!

Thank you all very much, I appreciate it, hopefully I'll be on the road in the next few weeks, I passed my theory Saturday!

Happy birthday Ian, have a good one!!
Tom
-
Thanks Mark, I'm sure I'll be needing decals for it when I get round to tarting it up
Tom

This one isn't as cool as the sickle bar I got a few weeks back but it's still wheel horse and it was a bargain so I'm happy
It needs a fair bit of love and attention but it's all there and it's solid. I will most likely spray it with oil and stick it in the shed until I have time to get it back to working order. It also needs a bag, whether you can still obtain these I don't know...

All back together now Norm
I had an afternoon on it today, got the hitch all connected up after getting some stainless steel D shackles. I also welded the high - low lever up; it feels so good to have low range back!!
Hitch in place:
Lever back in place
All back together:
Back on the bench ready for an engine service and to flush out the transmission in the next few days..
It's getting there now, I also have a plough lined up for it which should be installed in the next few weeks which I can hopefully put to work at Rural past times event. Thanks for looking.

Evening all,
I have been clearing out and re-doing my workshop and have finally finished painting the floor and have started moving back in and couldn't resist getting the 312-8 in for some maintenance.
On the bench:
I am installing a slot hitch so I stole the wire conduit off of my C-141 and installed it on this:
Slot hitch in place, I'm just waiting on some small D shackles:
I also removed the front wheel and spindles, de-greased them in my new parts washer, and put it all back together Bearings were all OK and the wheel spin much better now and the steering is also better. No pictures of it disassembled but here it is reassembled!!
Parts pile growing!
I have still yet to do an engine service, replace transmission oil, weld up hi-low lever, finish off slot hitch and whatever else I can remember! Thanks for looking.

Hi,
Yes that is the part I need, do you have it?
Tom
-
That'd be great Mark. Good idea Iain, when I come round I'll bring one with me and we can offer them up to each other!
Tom

Great video Ian, does that make me famous now I'm in one of your videos Looks like off roading was fun aswell!

Thanks all for the positive comments, I really appreciate it. Also thanks for the links to manual and pictures, I've learnt a lot about it just in the space of 5 minutes of flicking through various manuals and pictures. It seems I am missing a pulley assembly and a lift rod, well that's what I've found so far. I may have a lead on a pulley assembly but it's early days yet, I will keep you all posted..
Tom

Thanks Mark, would this fit my 856 then? Do you know what parts I'm missing?
Tom
-
It certainly looks the part Nigel, it will definitely be a head-turner at shows. Thanks for the drive today, it was great fun

Hi all,
I picked a wheel horse sickle bar up today, I'm pretty certain its wheel horse anyway. It's a cool bit of kit but I know nothing about these and I know I'm missing quite a few parts but it's a long term project I suppose. I'm not planning on restoring it as I reckon it would clean up nice. What do you think guys?
Tom
-
Hi Mark,
I was just wondering if you knew what the rough height of the hitch end of the plough was when it's sitting on the floor?
Tom
-
Very nice Mark, you guys have done a great job, you'd never know it was off of a Barford atom. I look forward to more pictures of it after the wheel horse roundup.
Tom

Thanks for all your positive comments, I really appreciate it! I love pottering around on it but it always feels better when you have a job to do with it.
I'll try to remind you Monday Ian, hopefully I won't forget either
