  1. First of all I'd like to say a massive thank you to Iain (slf-uk) as I wouldn't have been able to get it home without him. He very kindly offered to collect this wheel horse for me as my father is currently ill and is unable to drive. I am overwhelmed by his generosity, so thank you Iain. I have been wanting an auto wheel horse for a while and this one popped up advertised as not having a spark but it looked very tidy in the pictures. I liked the look of it a lot as it was original. I spoke to the owner and he was very honest and said that the wiring needed going through, I set my limit and luckily I won it. My plans are to try and source a hydraulic lift assembly for it and plumb it all in, it's definitely going to be a keeper. Anyway, I know you all want pictures so here it is: It also came with some weird sort of frame under the hitch, anyone know what this is and whether it's original? After I got it home I couldn't resist having a play and to see if I could get it running. I tested the coil, condenser and spark plug and they were all OK, cleaned and reset gap on the points but still no luck. I then ran a temporary wire giving the coil constant power from the battery and turned it over and we had a spark, put the plug in and off she went, a fair bit of smoke but it soon cleared, it hasn't been run in about 5 years so it was expected. The lack of spark was down to some awful wiring, here is an example of a join in the wire: This was just covered in insulation tape, the wiring is totally gone and I have decided I am going to make a new wiring harness. The only problems I'm having is finding a plug for the ignition, also what connectors do these plugs use? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking, Tom
  2. Very nice Iain, it will be interesting to see how it goes on the G14, hopefully it will cure or at least help it run better. Tom

    Mig welders

Thanks for the reply guys! That SIP welder sounds powerful Mark! I have looked at Hobbyweld Rocboni but have emailed BOC as apparently they do a Volkszone deal which is a deal for hobbyist, none-business use welders like me, I am awaiting a quote from them. I have decided on a Clarke 160TM welder and will be purchasing on Wednesday as Machine Mart are having a VAT free evening Tom
  6. A bit late I know but you definitely want ags and in my personal I'd go with wheel weights, if it's a tractor that ploughs all the time then you can ballast them, but if you are doing other jobs such as mowing the good thing about wheel weights are that they are removable because you don't always want the weight. Just an idea. If you are struggling to find wheel weights John Deere make ones that fit the same rim as a wheel horse they are green but I'm sure you could spray then if it bother you that much! Let us know what you go for. Tom

  19. Hi all, After having cleared up my workshop and bought myself a few new toys to go in it the next thing I am wanting to renew is my welder. Currently I have a small Clarke mig welder which has the disposable bottles which does the job but not to the standard I would always like. It's definitely getting a bit past it now. What welders do you guys use? I am tempted by another Clarke as they have good reviews, something like a 160EN or even a 160TM. Also I am not sure whether to go for disposable bottles again or rent some bottles, I am tempted by the latter but I don't weld that much, although recently I seem to have been welding loads! Any advice is greatly appreciated Tom
  20. It was you Paul who made the post about it in 2009 on another forum Tom
  21. I have just been looking through archived threads on another forum and saw that the GT14 had been sold before in the Ardingly sale in 2009 WITH a cutting deck for £320.. the reason I recognised it was because of the seat! Interesting.. Tom
