    Not another one...

I have only gone and bought another vintage piece of machinery, not a wheel horse this time though, I didn't expect to see one so close to me but I had to have it! I wonder if you can guess what it is Except Iain, you are exempt as you have already seen it Tom

    Disc harrows

Very nice Chris, you don't seem them very often. I've been looking for a set for a while now and they are always too big! Tom
  3. Thanks Norm, hopefully I can fix that problem tomorrow Tom
  4. Hi all, Had some time on the C-120 today. Got it all wired up, new fuel lines and filter and turned the key and off she went. I am very happy. It does smoke a little but I'm hoping a carb clean and de-carbon the head will help. It does run well though and the throttle shaft has minimal wear. Group photo: The next things to do are put the new decals on, grip tape on the foot boards, install an ammeter and clean up wiring and fuel lines and finally get a new battery for it. The only other problem is that the headlights work however they are intermittent and it's only when you wiggle the wires they work, faulty connection within the unit I expect? I haven't looked into it but are they sealed or can you split them? I have a video that I will try and upload later on. Tom
  5. Thanks for the link Iain, that looks very interesting, it would save me a lot of work and make it look near.. I may have to order one or two, it would make sense to order more than one to save on shipping.. Tom
  6. Thanks for the tip, I ordered some skateboard grip tape last night for the C120 Tom

    C-120 refurb.

You don't mess about Norm I bet it feels great to hear it run and have a drive. I thought it would be loud!! What colour are you using for the wheels? Tom
  8. Hi Iain, That's perfect, I would appreciate if you could bring it next Tuesday, thank you so much. We will have a square up on Tuesday too, I can't give you nothing for it!! Tom
  9. Small update: I have ordered 90% of the parts now. New fuel line and filter, skateboard grip tape for the foot plates, different coloured cable and also battery cable, inline fuse holder and fuse and also some new decals from Mark! I just need a battery, rear tail light bulb and an ammeter and I will be there. In the long run I hope to fit a hydraulic lift and some new tyres. I cannot wait to get this one running! Tom
  10. Hi all, I have been a bit distracted with my new wheel horse however the 312-8 had it's service and went back into the tractor shed. I haven't really used it for about 3 weeks but it started right up however wouldn't run without some choke, I'm presuming there is some dirt in the carb or something. I actually got it out to test a trailer I quickly banged together. It was an old wheel barrow that was destined for the scrap yard but after a bit of cutting and welding we had a trailer with a drawbar. It's a nice size to haul wood down to the house with! Tom
  11. Hi Alan, It's a great shame your friend is having to sell his collection off, I expect it has taken many years to gather it all. Although I am glad you have found this forum to move some of it on as you will know it will go to a good home as all the members here are great people! I did see you mentioned about some non-bolens garden tractors, do you know what these ones are? Good luck with selling the equipment, I'm sure you'll have no problems at all as it seems to be very desirable! Tom

Looking good Norm, bet it sounds good! Tom
  13. Thanks guys. I am struggling in regards the ignition plug and ammeter but I'm hoping I can overcome these. Push comes to shove I will order a brand new toro ammeter and just crimp connectors for the ignition switch. I am hoping to get another order from a guy in America in the coming months with some wheel horse parts so I may get him to send over some ignition plugs and the terminals that fit inside them. I can then cut the connectors off and fit an ignition switch.. Tom

    Mig welders

Thanks Mark Tom The welder is a Clarke 160TM, the bottom of the industrial/automotive range. I bought it on a VAT free night from Machine Mart! Tom I did get it from the Cattle Market, I stuck the L plates on this afternoon and me and dad took a drive there I actually enjoy welding now I'm practising more and it's 100x better with a nice welder, so line as many jobs as you want up!! Tom

    Mig welders

Hi all, Thanks for all the replies, I thought I had better follow this thread up. I have finally got a new welding set-up, I have only briefly tried it but I am very happy with the performance of it so far. The gas is from a company called Hobbyweld, you pay a refundable deposit of £60 for the bottle meaning if I ever want to stop having it I just take it back and they give me my £60. Each refill is approximately £36. Here is a quick weld I did with it, this is with very brief set-up. Once I have fine-tuned it hopefully the weld will improve more. Tom
  16. Bit of an update, I have removed the deck, I seem to have a few different sizes now! I have also taken the fuel tank and support out, it makes it a lot easier to get to the electrics. The back of the ammeter is smashed so that needs replacing. I am also replacing the ignition switch and plug from another mower I have here. The ignition switch and plug is not in great condition. I will then replacing all the wiring, the front headlights work however the rear light needs a new bulb. The clutch/brake switch work so I will include this in the circuit. I'm really looking forward to getting this running! Tom
  17. Thanks for the PM Iain with the link. That'd be great, thank you. It will be interesting to see how you get on with them, they are just what I was looking for. Tom
  18. I can only echo what Iain said. I use eBay a lot to buy and to sell and have had quite a few people not bother contacting me or make stupid excuses. On the other hand, I have met some good people and also found contacts who have helped me out again after deals or vice versa. There are pros and cons but it has definitely gone down hill with regards to some of the users and also the fees you have to pay. Tom
  19. Hi Iain, You are certainly right about the deck having more holes next to the chute than normal. You may very well be right, I'll have to get some more pictures of it. Where did you get them if you don't mind me asking, I am trying to find similar connectors as well. Tom I know, I kept telling myself no more! I have to admit I have been wanting an auto horse for a while so I think this is it for a while now Tom

    C-120 refurb.

Looks great so far Norm, can't wait to see it finished! Tom
  21. Hi Andy, Good to hear from you. The auto is definitely nice, I have only had a little drive but it's very smooth. I will definitely put some fuses in after what happened to you. When you rewired yours did you use new or original plugs? It's interesting about the hitch, you may very well be right. I know Neil just mentioned about it being an import or Belgium thing and this C120 is a Belgium model. If it was something that you need to fit your lawn vacuum let me know as it's of no use to me! It certainly does look factory. I wondered what the little decals were, I've never seen them before. It's also got a decal which says "I've got a horse, wheel horse of course" which I think is factory. I am ordering some decals from Mark so may get some more of them. It is missing one so I am replacing the bonnet decals but I'm not going to restore it. I may spray the wheels though. Tom Hi, I had read they were packard style but I wasn't sure what type. I have tried searching but I can only find them in the US like you mentioned. I will try and save as many as I can but if it does need new ones I may use some more modern connectors for now, maybe eventually I could make it totally original but it is a working tractor. I would appreciate if you could get the part number. It's definitely a nice machine, I'm certainly pleased Tom
  22. It could be, never heard or seen one before though. The only thing me and Iain could think it would be was a strengthener for the hitch. Apparently the previous owner used it a lot with a trailer, which would also make sense because of the tyre pressures for the trailer on the side of the fender, which makes me think when there is a lot of nose weight on the trailer the bottom plate on the hitch is pushing against the transmission and this piece of angled metal helps stop that. I'm not sure what else it could be.. Tom
  23. Hi Neil,Thank you, I also spotted the snow plough bracket, I already have one so if someone wants one let me know That's fine, just let me know once you've sent it, hope the family problems are sorting themselves out. Tom You can see it in the last picture, it's the little brackets attached to the axle housing, this is a picture of one removed from the machine: They are used with snow ploughs and also rotovators I think. Tom
  24. Thanks Paul! It certainly was, always nice to have a catchup. Thanks again. I am really happy just to hear it running and have a little drive, at least now it gives me motivation to get the wiring sorted. You may be right about the hitch, definitely interesting. Tom
  25. Thanks guys, I am very pleased. I spoke to the owner and the previous owner before him had a trailer for it and I wonder if like Mark said it was to strengthen it and to take the strain off of the transmission. On the right hand side of the fender there is also a decal which says the tractor tyre pressures and the trailer tyre pressure which I haven't seen before. I will have to get a picture of it. Tom
