  1. bottle looks pretty familiar, i'll have a look see
  2. valves didn't close propperly, compression came back after letting both valves snap closed two times
  3. IT RUNS!!!! kind of it starts easy but its a pig to keep running at the moment since the carb isn't supplying enough fuel. i've had it running stationairy for 10 seconds before the compression suddenly went.
  4. the weather cleared so its time for some pictures
  5. i've got it home now and after holding the cylinder head of the mg up next to this one its quite clear that the mower is quite a bit smaller so i guess this wont be broken up for spares im trying to get it running, fixed a compression issue, exaust valve was a bit stuck but after a bit of wd40 and some persuation it opperates again and i'm having compression. cleaned the carb and tossed around some bits of the mg carb since that one has more broken bits than this one. carb should be functional again now. now onto the magneto since i can hold the plug wire and ground myself to the machine while spinning the engine without getting zapped after i fix the spark issue i'll have to fit the oil return line, fill it up with oil, some petrol and see if it wants to tick over no pics yet, i'll get some when it stops raining
  6. yep, howell has them. http://www.wheelhorseman1000.com/category-s/171.htm
  7. looks like the wheel horse has the same engine in it as james has in his 6x6
  8. Paul do you have any close up pictures of the bottle so i can have a look for some over here and show my uncle who does crop spraying, maybe he recognises the bottle to be of a specific brand and type
  9. the ad said it was restored/seen through, so i think i did good for 150 euros/ 115 pounds
  10. jonathan said it was an early one with a sturmey archer engine, he said probably around 1938
  11. yesterday my bossman had a big oak cut down, he said i could take the branches it was a bit more then i expected
  12. bought another ransomes today, this time its a mower with roughly the same engine as on my mg2. this one will be used for parts at first, then when i find the proper parts for the mg2 i will rebuild this one. and because you all like pics i will be picking it up saturday
  13. loosen the flywheel nut to the end of the crankshaft, hold the flywheel and with a little hammer(or a chunk of aluminium like i use) rap the end of the crankshaft, two or three raps should pop the flywheel right off
  14. i'll take the lambo then, 4x4 makes a nice start for a offroader
  15. http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf i once got a mower in with one of those on, atco balmoral 17s i think it was, carb couldn't be dialled in. ended up drilliing out the jet and resoldering the hole with a sewing needle. ran fine after that
  16. well, i'll stay away from ponds even more now, unless the pond in question is a wheel horse lets hope he gets well soon
  17. that tractor on steel wheels is an twin city 20-35, exhaust is upside down on it
  18. looking good so far as for the pull start, just wind it up till it fits again with the rope pulley thing, wind it up the way it would go when pulling the rope. once there is some good tension clap it down so the holes for the rope to go through line up and put the rope through. tie a knot in it so it wont go out the pulley and release the clamp, it should wind up the rope as far as it's needed. pull out the rope a bit, put the handle on and you're good to go. make sure you have enough rope because its very anoying to see the end of the rope dissapear in the pullstarter and having to start over again
  19. nice pictures paul, all the wheel horses look great, just that one black horse, who would do that?
  20. It has come a Long way since project zero-ish turn and the acorn shooter
