Engine cooling fins

Does anyone have any tips on a handy way to clean rust and corrision off the cooling fins without disassembling the engine and having it blasted.

I use a small wire brush, emery paper, wire wool and a stick.

I use a long thin grindstone on a Dremel and flappy sanding wheels.

In the absence of a Dremel, a length of wooden dowl or steel rod with a slot in the end. Thread a bit of the appropriate grit emery cloth through the slot and run at moderate speed in the drill.
