Stormin 4,458 #1 Posted August 29, 2016 Carol has an artistic streak and wants a new studio. So the greenhouse had to go. Over the last few days, I've dismantled the greenhouse and transported it to eldest daughters. Son-in-law wanted it and was a great help. Conspicuous by his absence. The breeze block base the greenhouse was fastened too, also removed. Hollow blocks are quite heavy, especially when someone has filled the hollows with concrete. These have been taken elsewhere with the C-81 and Saxon trailer. Site levelled up and some 2-1/2 x 24 x 30 inch slabs that have been hiding behind the workshop, placed and levelled at the four corners. More slabs have to be laid yet for the floor supports and that's the next step. The new studio is to be 8ft x 12ft and construction of the will start sometime later in the week. . 6 Alan, the showman, slf-uk and 3 others reacted to this
Stormin 4,458 #2 Posted August 29, 2016 Just realised. It's not the last few days. It's the last couple of days. One and a half actually. Time goes quickly when your enjoying yourself.

Stormin 4,458 #6 Posted September 1, 2016 Roof frames made. Floor frame should be done by tomorrow night. Give me room for another tractor or two. 4 Triumph66, Alan, the showman and 1 other reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #11 Posted September 6, 2016 Looking at the base I assume it's going to have a wooden floor, are you going to insulate it as its going to be cold in there when the winter comes .
Stormin 4,458 #12 Posted September 6, 2016 Yes to both. Wooden floor supported on breeze blocks. Insulation will be installed. The flags and blocks are what I've had lying around and the gravel was free from next door. 1 the showman reacted to this
Stormin 4,458 #13 Posted September 7, 2016 More progress today. Floor frame treated with two coats of preservative over the last couple of days. Put in place today and levelled up. Underneath of the ply floor treated then laid and screwed down. Roof frame with it's first coat of preservative. A neighbour is doing the joinery work. He has all the gear. Frame work we carried round. Ply sheets came round by C-81 and Saxon. And the hospital bed/lift being useful once more. 3 Alan, slf-uk and Triumph66 reacted to this
slf-uk 914 #14 Posted September 7, 2016 Looks great Norm, your making good progress. Have you put insulation under the floor? I am watching with interest as I have been asked by the boss to make a new potting shed, apparently the current one is unusable now that it is being shared with a number of tractors (9 to be exact ). Stormin 4,458 #15 Posted September 7, 2016 No under floor insulation, Iain. Never thought of it. And I'm not going to mention it. Walls and roof will be and s.w.m.b.o. wants double glazed windows.
