Digging holes, How lazy

Recommended Posts

Does the Bobcat just cut the tar or does it loosen the soil in the hole before the vacuum sucks out the soil?  Presumably less chance of cutting gas mains and cables etc.  Will they let you get closer to take a picture in the hole?

The Bobcat with the pecker just breaks through the tarmac and concrete and loosely the dirt then the vacuum sucks it all up.

The new plastic main is inside the old cast iron pipe, then they disconnect each house and inject expanding foam in between the old and new, smash the old cast iron pipe and fit a saddle.

the service pipe to the house is the same with a plastic pipe inside the old pipe, then just connected to the meter.

all done with live gas so no smoking while they do it.

Just read up about these machines apparently the digging end of the vacuum can inject very high pressure air or water to loosen the soil as it is sucked up.

It has a poker type rod about 5 foot long with a air hose attached to the end, if you look at the second photo its laying on the floor and in the forth photo the chap is holding it with the airline over his shoulder.

He just pokes it in the dirt and turns the air on. :hide:
