Ohlsson & Rice: Octura R/C Boat

Hi I have had the WH X plans scanned here is a cropped sample I can email them to you in PDF form and your local office supplies can print them on A0 paper. I'm after the plan for V (5) if anyone has a copy. I also have the plans for White heat 30 & 60. Regards Daren

I don’t know about you guys but I finally got tired of chipping paint when removing the recoil cover screws. It turns out that Wera makes some narrow shaft bits that looked ideal. I got one and then took it to the grinder to shape it to the right size. I followed that with a small piece of shrink tubing. This gives a very nice clearance now between the screwdriver shaft and the little recesses on the recoil cover. Hopefully no more scraped paint anymore...

Ohlsson & Rice: Tiny Tiger Rebuild

I decided it’s finally time I go through a Tiny Tiger. Seems a little strange that I haven’t done one of these yet. Can someone point me to the Tiny Tiger rebuild thread that Wallfish did, I wasn’t having any luck finding it? I didn’t get very far before I hit a roadblock. I’m trying to remove the generator section and it’s not pulling all the way apart. It moved maybe 1/8” before feeling like it’s got something else holding it in place. Is there a nut or bolt behind the little plug cover that is in the very center on the rear of the case (last photo)? It looks like someone has been in this one before as the little plug cover is bent up and wasn’t centered well when they put it back in so it’s all jammed up. If I have to remove this it’s probably going to be completely ruined after prying it out.

    Westwood Gazelle

Hey Picked this up the other day fairly local to me. It's my second gazelle my other one has the rare rear exhaust. I'm planning on resorting this one to original colours. Where can I get the original orange from? Is the chassis just black or a grey colour? Thanks Tom

These were the only references I could find, and a price sheet.

The steering strut, drive shaft, prop & large fin, are listed as being for both the White Heat V & X in the May 1966 price list. But the V8 style exhaust is different for the V & X (60° for the V & 90° for the X). David

    Plough built from scrap

To reach this point to where it makes a reasonable job it has probably been built and rebuilt a dozen times 👍

    Tiny Tiger gas tank repair

I figured out how to remove the bottom of the Tiny Tiger gas tank and wanted to share how I did this. First make sure all the fuel is out of the gas tank and no flamable vapors are in the tank that could ignite. I used a heat gun to heat the bottom metal plate and the aluminum around the bottom of the tank to about 350 degrees. I was able to use a wooden dowell to push from the inside of the tank push the cover off. The filter on the inside of the tank is rubber and will most likely be deteriorated. I removed the rubber filter and shortened the brass tube about 3/4 of an inch and used a chain saw fuel filter that fit over the tube to replace the disinegrated rubber filter. I made a new paper gasket to replace the original paper gasket for the bottom cover. Pay close attention to cleaning the bottom cover where the bottom cover and the aluminum housing fit together. It must be exceptionally clean for the adhesive glue to seal well. I used "Seal All" adhesive which was recommended by the manufacturer for this type of application. "Seal All" may be purchased at most automotive stores. Apply sealant per instructions on the package and assemble the cover to the tank. I also put a little sealant around the outside of the tank cover after I assembled it. Some people mentioned the use of "Yamabond" which I am sure could be used as well. "Seal All" was only $4 a tube which I believe is cheaper than "Yamabond". I have attached pictures as a reference of how I accomplished this.
