  1. "It has got some good projects on etc maybe Kelsey publishing should bring a horticultural magazine out ! "

Realistically the size of the potential readership and advertising revenue does't warrant a stand alone publication and , if the truth be known, forums such as this one have played their part in reducing magazine readership and revenue.

the good old internet strikes again !!!

  2. Looks good Ben

My other half would go mental if she found that on our table!! :o  :D

my other half wouldnt mind because its my table and my house come to think of it! :D

That's a nice find Ben.. Judging from the 1st photo it also makes a good carpet edger :D

Is this machine getting the full resto treatment or just cleaned up a bit to keep the aged look?

i love the patina of it ian it looks lovely as it is so just a thorough scub up i think then on with some carpet edging :D

congratulations on the new workshop ian

nigel has certainly pulled out all the stops sorting it for you well done sir

i will be passing soon for a visit to see how the progress is coming on

they are all fitted in there correct place now i just need a new governor spring and that should sort that out then i will see if the ultrasonic cleaning has worked with the carb

  9. having been over to a fellow lawnmower repair man the other day in search of a new carb for the tecumseh engine  unfortunately to no avail but i did manage to find a nos float for the carb and a good seeing to in the untrasonic tank hopefully will have sorted it i will fit it over the weekend and see fingers crossed

  10. thanks angus as nigel said very informative im now on the trail of a new carb for the bug.

the tecumseh engine is staying for heritgage purposes

  11. thanks for the feedback chaps good question nigel, perhaps angus knows the answer

i will have to hunt for a tecumseh carburettor i reckon although, the honda engine is a nice motor to use

some people dont always like them but i personally do

a quandary me thinks i will mull it over this weekend

you must keep that origanal ben, buy the way angus will proberly know this but the lawnbug was made with 2 differant chassis a low side and a high sided one my question is which came first and what year was the change?

i would guess the lower framed one would have been the first version since as angus said they changed some of the workings

  12. Once upon a time there was an old westwood that had been left to ruin in the corner of the workshop which no-one loved

    post-220-0-94489900-1411667644_thumb.jpg

it was decided that a heart transplant was needed given that the old one had long since had an arrest and gone bang

    so work commenced!

    post-220-0-86229800-1411667870_thumb.jpg

once the old engine was removed and a few other bits that were past there best were stripped away  the hunt for a new motor commenced it didnt take long to find a good donor
