well santa seems to have come to visit me early this year as my new toy arrived yesterday all very exciting indeed here is a pic can you guess what it is
"It has got some good projects on etc maybe Kelsey publishing should bring a horticultural magazine out ! "
Realistically the size of the potential readership and advertising revenue does't warrant a stand alone publication and , if the truth be known, forums such as this one have played their part in reducing magazine readership and revenue.
well seeing as winter is drawing near it was about time i started thinking about those smaller teatime type projects such as the emblem
i decided a while back to vapour blast the alloy deck which looks kind of space age i will re=paint the roller frames backflap and handle but leave the deck raw and lacquer it i reckon it will look just brill
well, i spotted this whilst trawling the auction site with no name and decided to have a punt and won the old girl she,s well ridden to be frank but the deck and running gear are sound.
These are getting hard to come by these days, built like tanks and will cut most things here it
will sort a better pic when ive got it in my possession
that sounds good i need a few other bits for it too the centre plate that covers the gearstick etc and the rear deflector that covers the gearbox its like a sump plate if you know of any of those bits please let me know
got the carb fitted back on today it soon became clear that all the governor linkage and springs etc were in the wrong place
they are all fitted in there correct place now i just need a new governor spring and that should sort that out then i will see if the ultrasonic cleaning has worked with the carb
oh and i need to sort the rear tyres out they are done for
having been over to a fellow lawnmower repair man the other day in search of a new carb for the tecumseh engine unfortunately to no avail but i did manage to find a nos float for the carb and a good seeing to in the untrasonic tank hopefully will have sorted it i will fit it over the weekend and see fingers crossed
thanks for the feedback chaps good question nigel, perhaps angus knows the answer
i will have to hunt for a tecumseh carburettor i reckon although, the honda engine is a nice motor to use
some people dont always like them but i personally do
a quandary me thinks i will mull it over this weekend
you must keep that origanal ben, buy the way angus will proberly know this but the lawnbug was made with 2 differant chassis a low side and a high sided one my question is which came first and what year was the change?
i would guess the lower framed one would have been the first version since as angus said they changed some of the workings
ive been after one of these for a while now and it turned up today after a few minutes it was running briefly but the carb is knackered and i hate tecumseh engines so its going to get a honda lump very soon here are a couple of pics
Once upon a time there was an old westwood that had been left to ruin in the corner of the workshop which no-one loved
it was decided that a heart transplant was needed given that the old one had long since had an arrest and gone bang
so work commenced!
once the old engine was removed and a few other bits that were past there best were stripped away the hunt for a new motor commenced it didnt take long to find a good donor
so there you have it the first instalment of custom hort = messing with the horticultural genepool
yipee santa has come early!!!
