  2. My B & S 11hp broke a con rod and on taking it apart the crankshaft is slightly scored. Not certain it need replacing but erring on caution wondered if you had the bits I need. Will get gaskets and seal from briggsbits (unless there is a cheaper option).

    Parts are;

    Conrod 490348

    crankshaft 692944

Any help appreciated. If it is not cost effective I guess the old dear will be up for sale.

    Thanks

    hi chris

i will check at the stores and see if i have anything and get back to you

  3. Get this update done take 2.. I did try this morning but ended up only typing one line in an hour odd due to slight distractions in the shout box :D

I'm in danger of getting distracted again, it's only been 13 min's since I typed the above line, so I'd better get on with it!!

First of all a big THANK YOU to Doug (Ranger) for sending me a pair of late Mini (a Mini as in the proper car not the German thing!) 12 inch wheels which bolt straight onto the Reliant axle.. Thanks Doug, your a gent

And second of all, another big THANK YOU to Bryan the mad Reliant man for the prop shaft.. I know it's unlikely your be reading this, but thanks anyway

By the way, if you ever want any expert advice on how to wrap stuff for shipping, Doug's the bloke to speak to :D

Anyway, have a photo of the wheels and prop shaft.

The wheels will need a bit of banding (widening) to get normal size WH rear tyres on, it would be something I would normally do myself but do to the er... interesting speeds "Why Not" could reach I'm going to take them to an engineering company to get widened instead.. Best play it safe on this me thinks :)

Out of interest I slipped an over wide tyre on the rim..

Just to see how it looked.

The prop shaft was up for the chop next, after some careful measuring the end of the prop was cut off which was all i needed.

Splicing the Honda and Reliant props together should be quite simple, I will just make a collar that fit's both sizes and weld it all together.

Before I started thinking about narrowing the axle I thought it would be wise to balance a few bit's together to see how it looked with the fill width axle..

    Eeekkk!

With the main body tub cut to fit over the diff, "Why Not" didn't look to bad from the front..

But from the back!!!!!      Yes, I think the axle does need to be narrowed :D

Hurrah!! I managed to get all this update done :D

i quite like the width of the rear end personally :D

  4. Interesting, but that's why I said "unless"!

None of the parts books that I have show the use of the Emblem name on that model and it first appears on the lightweight four wheeled machine some years later. Nowhere is that model number shown in relation to your configuration of machine however there is a gap between the late 70s and around 1986 where Mountfield are using three digit 83* model numbers so I'm guessing that your machine is early 80s. Perhaps anyone else with a similar machine can look and see what theirs is called?

apparently mountfield came down to culverwells and took photos of it they had never seen one either

i didnt see you at tractorfest in biddenden over the weekend i thought you might have come over and had a look around?

  5. Not sure about "Emblem" (unless its written on it!!"

I believe it to be an M35 which was first made in 1973 and continued unchanged , except for the colour, until  1979 when it became the M35LS.

Think that yours will be fitted with the virtually indestructible Leroy-Somer induction motor. The only thing that ever went wrong with them was a failed starting capacitor which was an easy and cheap fix.

im affraid your wrong angus here is the spec plate for the emblem!!!!

  6. i purchased this some months ago from a seller ive bought from before in cornwall it was restored about 12 years ago by the maya trust and sold on

it came back to them recently and i purchased it

it was collected whilst i was on holiday in cornwall unfortunatley i didnt realise how big it was and when i arrived at crossgate to collect it soon found out it wouldnt fit through the door of my camper van luckily i have a bicycle rack fittede to the rear of the van not really supposed to take the weight of a vintage rotoscythe but thank god it did a sterling job and dint break off whilst on the 340 mile trip home !!!

here is a picture of her she will also be at tractorfest this weekend if anyone wants a proper look :D
