When at Newby Hall last year, we were camped about 1/4 mile from where our exhibits where. Having three and only being able to drive one at a time, walking back and forth got to be a bit of a bind.  So for this year something had to be done to save the poor old legs. They're not as young as they used to be. It's the rigor mortis setting in early.
So this morning I had a scrat about. One Westwood front axle and wheels, some 2" box section, surplus ladder racks and the result you can see below.

    Still ramps to make yet.

Had an hour or so on the zig-zag, found some junk metal in the pile and started making the drawbar thingy, bit of tube a bit of box section and a couple of gate hinges. Still thinking how i can lift it off the ground for traveling.
The chains might be a bit long but i can always shorten them.
Next bit is the hitch end to do then once its attached to the tractor i can work out how to lift the back with the lift handle

Well the C-121 is now up and running.    Still mods to do, but they will get done in time.

Bit different to how it looked almost 12 months ago.

All that's left now is the arrival of the stickers.

Also new tyres when funds allow.

Yesterday along with my plough and dump cart I also picked this up, I've been after something like this for a while, I know the proper job should be like them ones you see with two fancy great lengths of wood and cast iron spoked wheels all varnished and painted pretty! well, this is far from that, but its perfect for the job and I'm pleased with it, the blocks of wood its on at the minute are only supported with tool box caster wheels ( wasn't us that did that) and as you can guess they broke! so where it sits now is where its been for a while, at least now i can get it out more! with a bonus, it can be pulled by hand or one of my machines :D

I've already given it a quick coat of paint I got some new wood to bolt on the top of the trolley and varnish it all up then sit the engine ontop...

all to follow over the next few weeks hopefully!

I also managed to bring back this little tipping trailer today, again I'm not too sure on the make? any input will be greatly appreciated, I've not seen them with the round pole chassis/draw bar thingy ma bob!?

it's got lots of surface rust, but nothing many of hours sanding shouldn't sort out,

but my plans with this are to paint it all up cub colours and add a few cub decals and pull it behind my cub cadet,

I'm not sure weather to keep the solid tyres or change the wheels and tyres for pneumatic ones? Guys?!?!

I picked up my new plough today, (well new to me) It's not a wheel horse plough nor does it have any makers name/marks but I am hoping to adapt it a little bit and get it onto the back of my wheel horse raider 10. I've been after a plough for a long time now, Hopefully start work after next weekend!

So the wife is always pestering me to work on the "Honey Do" list. She also says I should use those tractors instead of reading about tractors!
So...... Since RedSquare is down today, out came the backhoe for some work. Thought I would post over here since I still have the need to read about tractors, engines and machines.
Needed to remove a large 12 foot Forsythia bush. She wants to do a small garden in this area and this thing took up quite a bit of room.
Had to dig a trench around the base, hooked up a chain to the front end bucket and yanked it out. Put a beating on the hoe with some of larger roots and rocks but got it done. She hasn't decided if the others will need to go yet so I may be back at again next week.

Morning all, a bit more progress for you..

Starting at the top... Brake fluid reservoirs mounting bracket.. Only tacked on at the mo.
    Middle...                   Bonnet hinges...
Bottom...                  Two bit's of box welded to the engine frame... These will bolt to the chassis and will add vital strength to that area..

Getting the engine out was interesting, slide it forward and lift at the same time!

Engine frame bolted back on to help keep things in line during welding... Plenty of surface rust to be cleaned off!

A view you would only normally get if you were lying on your back and had just been run over by WN

I did make a good start on the cleaning up and welding yesterday, lot's of joints like this needed welding up..

A few more parts have turned up.. New front tyres, sorry for the rubbish photo..

And some shiny stainless pancake air filters..  These are for a 1098cc MG Midget engine so two of them should flow more than enough air.

Evening chaps, it's been a busy day in the workshop..

I wasn't happy with how the battery box sat this morning, so I cut it off and started again..
It's a bit hard to get photo's as it's tucked away in the chassis, but it has a mounting bolt at the back, two underneath...

And one on the side..   Plenty strong enough now

A rare photo of Nigel smiling

    A very narrow axle..

And lot's of parts on and under a fold up table...

Which can only mean one thing..... The strip down has started so I can fully weld up the chassis

Evening chaps, today's progress for you..

The expansion bottle is now fitted in the only place it could go.. It's a bit tight in there!

The bottom of the bottle may look rather close to the prop shaft but the is a good inch gap between the two.

The carb tube air filter thingy now has a couple of tabs to bolt it to the hood stand.. The carbs now have extra support which they never did on the SilverWing but did on earlier models!

The battery box is now mounted although I need to add a little extra bracing.. The battery comes out through the top.

And playing around with hood hinges..

Right then, back to the Operation.

When we last posted, the Forklift was still on the trailer as were the makings of the crate.

This morning I went out to unload everything and put the crate to a place where I could still get to it later for assembly.

Now one thing to consider is that the forklift has very little ground clearance and with the weight box on the back having a long overhang, it doesn't take much to high center it. That means that you have to be a bit creative to get it on and off a trailer.

Fortunately my North lot has a drainage ditch that is just perfect.  I just back the trailer down the ditch and the tailgate is now level with the road  :D

I also found that a byproduct of taking the forklift with me when I picked ut the crate was that the crate was resting just fine of the forks.

So, unloading the crate was just a matter of lifting the forks so that it cleared the trailer sides, driving off the trailer, and Bob's your Uncle.  I'd like to be able to claim that I planned that, but it was just pure happenstance.

Pics of how the unloading went.
