Nice fine grey ring line on those Valves Matt  .
Have a hunch that the Fenders will need jacking up about 1.1/2" min to clear those Chunky Rears.
That should give you a nice' Enclosed Seat' feeling and have the right look as well.

All I have on the Hayter Osprey is as below, sorry no manuals, top bit of second photo upside down as it flaps over the front, so thats how its printed...

The engine number should be on the air filter side of the cowling, the first two digits of the third set of numbers should give you the year...

Time is precious, so I try not to waste it!

I got the engine tore down today, and I'm very happy with the way it looks inside. I gave the cylinder a brief honing, and cleaned up very quickly. Its not perfect, but it is good. The crankshaft is still standard, and looks good. Although you can see a mark in the rod, you can't feel it. I gave the block a good cleaning, and cleaned up the ports. I went ahead, and ordered the engine kit, which will consist of piston, rings, connecting rod, both valves, gaskets, and seals.
The first picture below is the exhaust nipple, which I had to cut, and break out with a chisel, as it wasn't coming out of its own free will.
They say a picture is worth 1000 words, so I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking for me!

Late on parade ...me ...Very nice acquisition and Project Matt. A well proportioned Machine and great attachments.
That Piston/Bore condition is identical to the one I had to sort out (stalled piston caused by Carbon).
You'll soon have sorted, with all 14 horses singing and pulling together !.
Look forward to seeing your progress.

But I really suffer from many deficiencies that have these weird Acronyms like-      S.A.D.,   O.L.D.,   G.I.T.

    'Unfinished' means ongoing !.

'Finished' means it needs to be improved upon, therefore still unfinished.

I've the same 1953 myford ML7 lathe as Richard, only with 3 phase and an inverter. I'm untidy though, so it's a mess

You have just got to find a use for that Chopper Engine Jeff !.

Apart from the Myford  (don't want to dupe my other Post/Thread here, I have a Tiny Plain Lathe with full accessories.
Use it for Bushings and Model Steam fittings etc . Did use it initially to machine the front Wheel Rim Castings for my Engine.
Rather untidy post , but here's a few old scanned photographs of the Micro Lathe and some other Myford machining shots :-
    ........sorry about the quality.

I added a Used Light Milling Machine to my little workshop last Autumn (right of pic) , well worth it :-

Reasonable size Table and will cope with my needs and Tools interchangeable with the Myford

    Hello
Most of the Gravely tractors are two wheels tractors but they built four wheels tractors. The 400 serie between 1968 and 1972 and the 800, 8000, Pro series between 1972 and 2002, being little evolution of the first one
You can see daughter Mary driving the 814

Interesting. So that's 2 that are known !. I see it is quoted in the Wheel Horse by Years List. I like the idea of a 1974 C-162 !.

Shame they didn't put a 'Power Bulge' in the Hood, rather than just Jack up the hinges.
Actually, to be honest, I would have to clean up the Rims on it, but definitely leave the rest it's original Clothes.

Reckon the drive to collect that was well worth it. Have any others been found in the same Spec that you know of Matt?.

It look's to be in excellent condition and if it were mine , I'd keep it just as it is  .
Lets face it, those Techys are becoming a little thin on the ground now.
Good that you got the User Manual with it, along with the Attachments. Super Package there !.
    Thanks for the pics

I thought I'd post a few pics of my favorite Wheel Horse. Its an all original unrestored C-160. The thing that makes this one somewhat unusual, is that it was factory equipped with a OH-160 16hp Tecumseh, rather than the Kohler K341. I guess Kohler was unable to keep up with production, so Wheel Horse made a few with Tecumseh engines. The hood hinges are taller on these, as they needed extra clearance for the OHV Tecumseh engine. I included a picture comparing this hood to a regular hood. Some of the manuals refer to this model as a C-162, but they were still badged C-160.
I bought it with a tiller, lawn deck, and WH dump cart. I drove 550 miles to pick it up, and included a couple pics from the trip. Its original seat is in amazing condition, and still had some of the plastic around it. I use this as my dedicated tilling tractor, and intend to keep it as a worker, so no restoration is planned, at least not yet.  Its hard to resist restoring them. The Tecumseh engine runs very strong, and starts very easy. I did replace the dry rotted tires with some 23x10.50-12 AG tires in the rear, and tri ribs in the front. Thanks

Everything that Mark has mentioned above.
If you haven't done so yet , look it up on the Web, There are important things to understand about what kind of metals must never be put in the E-Tank.
They can produce toxic chemical gasses (basically no Non Ferrous).

The normal process on Mild, Black and Carbon steels, also Cast Iron produces Explosive Hydrogen Gas, must be well ventilated area.

I also read somewhere to avoid using Battery Chargers that have an 'Auto Cut Out'.
Read everything you can find on the subject is the best advice

Yep! ,  If you are not familiar with applying these , Follow the advice above.
Your surfaces must be smooth, thoroughly cleaned and degreased first and wiped over with a Tack Rag to remove dust and reduce static.

I prefer to apply them Dry, taping in place and removing a section of the backing at a time and pressing and spreading out in a particular way using a semi rigid Roller.

Have you tried using an old hair drier or a heat gun to warm up the old decals, this will help soften the adhesive on the back.
Any residue left you can clean off with meths/thinners or petrol...

How big are the new ones and what are they Neil?? Some people like to use a slightly soapy water mix to help get them in position....

Just thought I'd attempt to post a picture of half my Suburban riding tractors, by DB from 59-65. I have a fairly large collection of these, and they are my main power in the garden and around the yard.

The orginal engine, was a briggs model 6 and was really beyond effective repair, so I had a good model 8 sitting on the shelf and used it instead. After a lot of cleaning and painting we get this::
