the showman got a reaction from Gazza in Wheelhorse Freebee
Had a phone call from a fellow member that there was a free Wheelhorse to a good home on Red-Square local to me. After a quick response I managed to speak to the owner, he didn't know what model it was only that the engine was up front. with the help of Mr Mackellow and his trailer we went to collect it.
I was thrilled to bits to find a 1974 Raider 12, 8 speed with almost a new deck . Had a quick look after tea and it spins over, so a drop of fuel tomorrow and it should fire up,

just seen your photo, looks really nice. I don't think the c series ones fit , yours stay on the ground and you don't have a lift handle

Must be loosing my touch, took me just over an hour this morning to get her running, had a drive round the garden and tried out all the gears and cutter deck.
I was a bit disappointed to find only one headlight works , or was the ole girl winking at me

the showman got a reaction from nigel in Wheelhorse (old stock cleaned up)
Had this Raider 10 for a while, last time it ran was at Ardingly last year, its been grazing on the patio uncovered ever since.
I put some new points in it and then had to renew the petrol pipe, charged up the battery and she jumped into life, had a drive round the garden chased by Lily for a hour. Had some new decals in stock (not the right one's) but tarted it up, a quick spray with red diesel and a few photos to put it on e##y

the showman reacted to Ian in Wheel Horse Raider 20 6x6.. It's a long story!
Memories indeed Mark
I still remember the day Pete and I got the rolling chassis out of the shack... I gave the chassis a gentle prod with my foot, and she rolled out the shack door, bumped down the step as the ramps hadn't been put in place quite yet, and then rolled half way across the garden with the aid of a slight down hill slope
And now for something that's completely out of "build order" as it's getting rather hard to work out in what order things happened! Well at this stage of the build anyway, the order will work it's self out later in the build..
To get power from the engine to the trans I had to work out how to get a pulley on this tapered shaft on the engine!
After lot's of strange measuring...
I came up with a plan..
To make sure I would be able to make the parts on the lathe I used Google Sketch-up to do some 3D modeling,
The "pulley" part started as this thick heavy square of steel.
Taking shape.
A pulley blank.
Getting into the groove..
Part 1 of the pulley done.

the showman got a reaction from meadowfield in Whats the best way to clean a fuel tank??
Put some old chainsaw chains in it and put it in the old womans tumble dryer for an hour, ( best done when she's out )
