Triumph66 1,256 #1 Posted November 4, 2014 Just delivered this afternoon my latest attachment for one of my Bolens. It's a rear mounted attachment originally made by Horwool MFG Ltd in Essex for Bolens. It also came with a prop shaft as well. I am going to give it a good pressure wash this weekend and grease it up. It came from North Wales. 2 Ian and slf-uk reacted to this

Triumph66 1,256 #3 Posted November 4, 2014 One thing I have learnt in the Bolens World is to snap up attachments as they come up far and few between! The 1254 you have got is that all complete, running and restored?

slf-uk 914 #6 Posted November 4, 2014 Fantastic addition to your growing collection. I would love one and I am very jealous. I believe they originally came with a large fibreglass grass collector. Until you mentioned the manufacturer I was under the impression they were made by the Bolens importer, Howard. The great thing about this forum is that you learn something new every day. I am amassed by the speed you are adding to your collection. Iain 1 Ian reacted to this
Triumph66 1,256 #7 Posted November 4, 2014 Iain, I have been diagnosed with a unusual but harmless bug known as the Bolens Bug. The only known cure to allow ate any distress is to procure tractors and attachments pertaining to the Bolens Clan.
slf-uk 914 #8 Posted November 4, 2014 Andrew, If you ever find the cure I am sure my wife would like to know. I think I have passed on the illness to my 7 year old lad. He spent most of Sunday afternoon driving some of mine around. Iain

He spent most of Sunday afternoon driving some of mine around. Iain My wife also want to know the cure too! On a serious note, I must rein in my expenditure for the time being until next year unless something stunning pops up. Also I now need to sort out the storage so I can move around unhindered. slf-uk 914 #11 Posted November 4, 2014 Andrew, The biggest problem is that they are all stunning... Every time I sort out my storage it results in me having the space to buy another one. Iain 1 Triumph66 reacted to this

Triumph66 1,256 #18 Posted November 11, 2014 This afternoon due to inclement weather, I jet washed the cylinder mower to remove the accumulated grime, shot some grease where needed and sprayed some lubricants over the cutters. I wiped the whole deck over with an oily rag to add some protection. The prop shaft/PTO shaft was also greased as well. Everything seem to be moving freely. I will apply some linseed oil to the wooden roller later on once it's dry. I have yet to mount it to the Bolens 1254.
Triumph66 1,256 #19 Posted December 8, 2014 I have caused quite a stir on the U.S. forums, namely GTtalk, with the Howard Bolens Cylinder Mower attachment. It seem that they have not come across this type of rear PTO driven cylinder (reel) before. I have been asked to take some detailed measurements and take better photos of it for the archives! 2 Ian and OldBuzzard reacted to this
Chris 642 #20 Posted December 9, 2014 Pure porn for them then!! Maybe its an approved attachment which was not available in the US?? Howard were importers for the UK, thats why my 1886 has a Howard Bolens sticker slapped over the original transfer 1 Triumph66 reacted to this

Triumph66 1,256 #24 Posted December 10, 2014 Iain, I like the Father Christmas on the Bolens; a good choice of transport over the reindeers.....
OldBuzzard 186 #25 Posted December 22, 2014 (edited) Greetings from across the pond Gents. I'm a big Bolens Buff, and found this forum whilst searching for "Howard Bolens". Good to see a number of fellow Bolens lovers here. I saw that cylinder mower on the GTTalk forums, and was one of those that were drooling over it :D Edited December 22, 2014 by OldBuzzard 1 Triumph66 reacted to this
