diggerjames 543 #1 Posted November 5, 2014 Hi all I've been AWOL as of late from my shed to do any serious work due to extension at home etc but today I took delivery of an old flail mower minus the engine etc but does have some interesting bits , here's what I've done so far I've cut the main body of the head ready to make some brackets which will fit the tatchomatic . 2 Ian and ranger reacted to this
Triumph66 1,256 #2 Posted November 5, 2014 That looks like a hefty bit of kit there; a good find I would think. Look forward to the updates.

Triumph66 1,256 #5 Posted November 5, 2014 Just seen the video; an impressive bit of kit that. Another must have item for my Bolens. I have used flail mowers in the past on the Kubota and John Deere garden tractors which had larger ones and did a good job too. If I got one, I would use a larger HP engined Bolens like a Bolens H20 model to give a more effective cut. Be interesting to see how yours progress.
Stormin 4,458 #6 Posted November 5, 2014 Are going to use it to spread the horse poo to save collecting it? Must admit I'd like one mesel' one day.

Triumph66 1,256 #12 Posted November 5, 2014 James, is this a pedestrian flail mower that you will be converting to an attachment for your WH?
slf-uk 914 #13 Posted November 5, 2014 I have a Haban flail mower that fits on a Bolens tube frame mower. They are really useful. Mine has a gate at the back which you can adjust depending on how fine you want to cut up the debris. Iain
Triumph66 1,256 #14 Posted November 5, 2014 Iain, can you upload a photo of the Haban flail mower just out of interest. Thanks.
slf-uk 914 #15 Posted November 5, 2014 Andrew, I don't have a picture of it and it is currently in storage. I hope to get it out in the next few weeks and will post a picture. Iain 1 diggerjames reacted to this

slf-uk 914 #20 Posted November 11, 2014 It really looks the part, great work. The Haban flail I have is really heavy and I always use it on a tractor with hydraulic lift. Will this be too much for the manual lift or am I just too feeble?
nathanwhittaker 50 #21 Posted November 11, 2014 No problem
diggerjames 543 #22 Posted November 11, 2014 It won't be on a lift mechanism it's just gonna float on its caster wheels I think that's the best way , but it is food for thought to look into ! Cheers James
diggerjames 543 #23 Posted November 12, 2014 Just a quick video of the Flail all belted up and running on the newly acquired C121 http://youtu.be/sL8Vl3rairA 4 ranger, the showman, slf-uk and 1 other reacted to this

meadowfield 1,900 #25 Posted November 12, 2014 Is it spinning the right way, looks backwards... Edit You can flail either way, one way mows, the other mulches! 1 diggerjames reacted to this
