the showman 4,074 #26 Posted November 25, 2014 Thats not good Chris! I told you a while ago that I don't always get the easy one's Chris
the showman 4,074 #27 Posted November 25, 2014 Had another go at the engine, dropped the sump off and unbolted the big end, managed to nock the piston down a bit, cleaned of the rust in the bore and then managed to get the piston out, the bore has had it which is a shame as the internals look really clean. pulled out some old stock from under the bench and found one with a spark and compression , the only thing it has is a broken head bolt and no threaded hole in the end of the crank, so the question is do I drill and tap the crank or swop it with the duff engine ? Stormin 4,458 #31 Posted November 25, 2014 Can the barrel not be re-bored, Chris?
the showman 4,074 #32 Posted November 25, 2014 I'am sure it can be rebored Norm, but that costs and ive got to buy a piston so I might as well fettle about with what ive got

Ian 2,417 #34 Posted November 26, 2014 That engine looks nasty Chris, I'd be tempted to try drilling and tapping a hole in the end of the crank rather than pulling a couple of engines apart to swap parts..
Lauber1 51 #35 Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) yes I agree its a sad looking affair, shame you couldn't see that before you got it home. Edited November 26, 2014 by Lauber1

Lauber1 51 #37 Posted November 27, 2014 He'd have still got it. I used to do that, but I'm getting a little more conservative in my old age and don't want to do a ground up on every tractor I get. Anymore if it don't turn free and maybe have some attachments, i'll let some one else worry over it.
the showman 4,074 #38 Posted November 27, 2014 For the money I paid for it I would have had it anyway, seems a shame to just give up on it as I have all these parts in stock, anyway iam always up for a challenge 2 bubbalove and Lauber1 reacted to this
Chris 642 #39 Posted November 27, 2014 I would have a go at drilling the crank 1st Chris If you eck it up then go to plan B! whoa!!! how many spare kohlers.... None of them fit a Cub 100 then Chris
the showman 4,074 #40 Posted November 27, 2014 I would have a go at drilling the crank 1st Chris If you eck it up then go to plan B! None of them fit a Cub 100 then Chris My thoughts aswell Chris, The Cub has a Kohler that I have never seen, the block casting is totally different to any ive had, tried them all on Pauls Cub
pmackellow 2,738 #41 Posted November 27, 2014 From what I can gather the engine for the Cub Cadet application ends in AS, so the correct engine for the CC 100 would be a K241AS...
