ransomes experts i need your input on this

as the title says i could use some input from the ransomes experts on here.

the cylinder on my mg2 is looking a bit sorry, what i would like to know is if it can be reused or if i'm better off looking for a better cylinder and head.

I've seen worse, if you can easily find replacement parts then great I'd go that way, however if you can't, I'd get the valve seats recut and if they come up ok you should be able to have the outlet repaired.

Have the valve seats re cut, (I don't mean ground) and if need be helicoil the plug thread, should be OK after that, don't worry about the chunk out of the exaust port, as long as you can get a pipe in, it will be held by the bracket on the body.

Looking at that I would find a better replacement. But would give it a go.

 

In that state I would be more worried on what the rest of the engine is like :o  :o

I have a spare spare barrel and head in better condition. That one looks like hard work and expense, you could braze a piece in to the exhaust to try and stop it blowing.

What would that barrel and ead cost?

How does £60 plus carriage sound? I will dig it out and post some pics.

Did you not say that there were two more where that came from, would it be worth getting another with hopefully better engine and breaking it for spares or are the others in a worse state?

looks like the other crawlers he had were later ones
