That’s really interesting.  Look closely at the section just below the exhaust collector, on the typical military 133 there are three “fins”. On your latest engine stamped 133 it doesn’t need have those fins, it looks more like Somme of the earlier models. Wonder if it was mis-stamped?

It's nothing unusual, just an older 3/4HP engine, these Type 133 engines have turned up with a wide range of serial numbers indicating the military were wasting tax payers money for several years and leaving us with plenty of nice NOS engines on the surplus market too.

P.S. What's the Somme (WWI) got to do with it? :yankchain: We don't want that getting out, as it's bad enough people incorrectly listing them as WWII vintage. :banghead:

Same here with auto-correct, sometimes it's just completely useless.

You always need to test the engine BEFORE converting to a glow plug.

1)Connect the red wire to the engine's spark plug wire

2)Since this will probably be used for a boat you'll need just a little water so use the toilet water and run a wire from the yellow into the toilet water

3) It will need ammonia to complete the test circuit so pee in the toilet but do it in conjunction with #4

4) to test continuity give the pull cord on the engine a viscous yank

5)If no continuity jump the red to the yellow and try again

Please let us know the results of testing so we can figure out the rest. :D

Obviously we need an engine with a much stronger spark to try that continuity test again! :D

Don't make me ask you to use your welder

I was thinking it needed more current to get those plug wires glowing, a welder should do.:D

But that would make the wires melt before the plug glows:D

I need to get a third opinion. now your all pulling my chain:angry:

Apologies I forgot to add the Variac before the welder to control the glow plug current.

Think I got this figured out the best way to make this one work rite it to put the points back in.

Just got some time after some spring cleaning to work for a few hours.

when your wife is home all day there no rest for the working man :hide: hope she doesn't read this.

got the cylinder back on ant the ( points working) now to the recoil I'm not sure but I think I have seen

some of the recoil handles are they correct ? or should it be a wooden ball ?

Seems the BFH was ready to go but apparently it wasn't necessary! Good thing

I'd go with a traditional ball handle.

That engine looks brand new!
