Stormin 4,458 #1 Posted June 2, 2020 My Land Rover Discovery failed it's M.O.T. today. Terminal chassis rot. Could have been patched, but not really viable. So after six years ownership and many a thousands miles, it was time to bid adieu to the old girl. Disco's replacement now occupies it's parking space. Hyundai Santa Fe. 2.2 4cyl diesel. 5 speed box and goes like the proverbial off a blanket. Got all the bells and whistles. Leather seats, cruise control, air con etc. etc. Towing capacity 2-1/2 ton and enough room in the back to sleep in. Luckily Carol likes the colour, as she knew nothing about it 'till I brought it home. 3 Alan, pmackellow and Cub Cadet reacted to this

Stormin 4,458 #5 Posted June 3, 2020 I did think of a replacement galvanised chassis. But unfortunately it wasn't financially viable.
expeatfarmer 591 #6 Posted June 4, 2020 What did you do with it , a galvanised chassis would last far too long normal steel would outlast you WADR.
Stormin 4,458 #7 Posted June 4, 2020 Simon took it. Knocked off some of the price of the Hyundai. Having a steel chassis was not really an option. I couldn't have done it myself. Maybe if I was a bit younger and had a bigger workshop. Also being without transport would be a problem.
