    horwool triplex 84

Hi Ben, They are quite a heavy machine but not to bad. I would guess 3 - 400 kg. Maybe half ton with the cutters on. Very simple design and good fun to work on. I sold mine just before Christmas. With the large rear tractor wheels the chap i sold it to just got it in the back of a Nissan pick up truck.

    O&R 13B. (Groomer trimmer)

Did some looking around in my shop and located the other O&R engine I have. This came off a Groomer trimmer. See the pics. It runs wide open all the time. It was built with a Tillotson HU that has no throttle shaft. Never had one. No choke either, just the primer button. The only thing to impede air flow into the engine is a screw that holds the base and reed plate in place. Installed a new diaphragms in the carb. I had this hooked up to a remote tank to run it. It sounds like an irritated bumblebee!

Factory, I think that is what this trimmer looked like. Did some more scrounging in the other shop this af'noon for a Stover engine ring set and found the other aluminum tube, which is the fuel tank! I guess I have more to this than I had thought. It's been around here for 35 years or so and I never paid much attention to it. I'm thinking my son tore it apart in the mid 90's. I don't remember it ever having the cutter head, cover or shield though.

    Winter Project

Got both of the fuel tank brackets finished and in primer today only thing left to do is flush the rust out of the tanks. Had a look at the two bonnets , I’ve kept moving them down the list as i new they were bad but getting to the point where I need to do something with them, not sure what yet I don’t think I’ll sand blast them yet.

    Winter Project

Got tanked up today, found some off cuts of metal in stock so I’ve made two fuel tank brackets Think the photos show the process.

I got it all together and it actually runs quite well. Still playing with the mixture setting. The air filter has a great effect on the mixture it seems. The filter is a felt material and is clean, so I’m confident things will be ok once sorted out. The fuel cap revealed the crack in it that was covered in dust and oil, and once gas got on it became clear to see. If anyone has one for sale, I’d be interested.
