  1. Nice sunny day today so I thought I'd cut the green etc. Be nice to ride round on the C-125 mowing and sweeping. That's what I thought anyway. Just about to fit the cutter deck when number 3 grandson landed. So while HE rode round mowing and sweeping, I had to use the self propelled mower to cut the lawn and the soft verge by the pond. He then drove off down the lane with Saxon trailer in tow, along with his grandmother, to collect rocks for her rockeries. The only riding I've done was to put it away in the workshop.
  2. I thought the Planet one was a hockey stick at first. How does that work?
  3. Nice job. That's a well designed machine. Good clean lines that will be easy to keep clean. Nice colour as well.

    Well done that lad.
  7. Number two grandson brought a jar of tadpoles round yesterday. Let them loose in the pond.
  8. I'm hoping some of the lads will come from over the border. Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink.
  9. So do I. BTW. The beer at the R.A.F.A. club is the princely sum of £2.35p a pint.
  10. Ist of May is closing date for entries. Late entries will be accepted up to 10am.
  11. Entries now closed for this. BUT late entries are usually accepted. Just don't go in the programme.
  12. Never have any problem starting it, Richard. Hold down the decompression lever and wind the handle like mad.
  13. Thought you'd like it Richard. Thanks for the link. Pity I don't have the original drawings to go with it. I do have a note book somewhere with some of the prices. In real money.
  14. Below are some photo's of the traction engine built by my late father. It's an M.E. 1" scale traction engine designed by Henry Greenly and built by my father in 1946/47. My mother said it took him 18 months. Home from work, dinner then shed. I sometimes wonder how I got born. I haven't a clue how to run it and if memory serves, it hasn't run for 50 years. It will need pressure testing etc before it does. As to value?
  15. Below is a photo of my Petter diesel generator. I apologise for the poor quality but it is right in a far corner of the workshop. The engine is a Petter single cylinder diesel AA1. Number 74343 AA1. 3bhp. 3000rpm. The generator by EP Allan & Co. KVA 2.5 Serial No 1022 2P. 110/240v Single phase. 50 cycles. Amps 17,4 - 8.7. I bought this some years back when we had several long power cuts. As in days. £150. Since then we have only had very short ones. I run it now and then, but I think the neighbours, not that we have many, would be a tad upset if run through the night. It's one noisy beast. I haven't a clue as to old it is. Hope it's of a bit of interest.
  16. I take it you remove the front wheels to fit the roller?
  17. Some of the lads in the sheet metal department where I used to work, would have had a blue duck fit if asked to do that. Full marks Ian. Ever thought of moving up here?
  18. Growing things is T'Other Arf's department. I'm the collector/gatherer/fixer and shifter. Oh! Woodcutter.
