This project was laying in the back of the shed for 5 years ,  but when I sourced the correct engine (villiers mark 15 OHV)  last year finally made a start. It was quiet a mess , but came with a plough, Discs, and large ridge plough, Tool frame and i also bought a Rotavator attachment separately 2 years ago.

It was very oily ..so first job was dismantle and spray with "oil eater"

it was messy to dismantle with oil everywhere from a leaking gearbox (worn bronze wheel bushings)

Here is the new bronze wheel bush fitted..the old worn ones  caused the wheels to wobble!!

The gearbox fell off the bench ..cast iron is not strong !! big setback. But welded okay

Its chain drive so gearbox needs to be oil tight

    Better view of welding repair

Its drive gearbox (upper) is an albion with a reverse..this was seized but managed to free it up. Filled with non ep gear oil..as it has bronze phosphorus components

Finally got to priming after shot blasting most parts (paint was very tough possibly contained lead)

Finished in John Deere Yellow missing from pic is heavy front weight.

. Engine is great ..good starter and burns clean. Now must start on all the attachments

For the money I paid for it I would have had it anyway,  seems a shame to just give up on it as I have all these parts in stock, anyway iam always up for a challenge

You could always fit inner tubes and fill them with a water/screen wash mix.. I did that when I had big rear tyres fitted to my WH 312-8.. The traction was amazing and the slight sloshing sound was relaxing

Spent a bit of time on the Toro today, removed all the mower reels and managed to get it out of the van and into the drive,
checked out the numbers and found that its a 1980.
all the mowers seem to be in good shape and still have some paint on them so I don't think they've had a lot of use
the rear wheel is a bit of a bodge and the tyre has been knifed.
i'll do some photos tomorrow and post

As you all know I bought one of these on Wednesday without the 2 front mowers, looking on "you know where" up pops another one with all the mowers and no engine , well why have one when I can have two. It was  too wide to fit in the van so had to drag it in sideways so getting it out might be fun.
but in the mean time here's some photos

Arrived at work this morning and was greeted by one of our software managers asking for some advice...

I goes up to our server room and it stinks of rotten eggs, my first thought was batteries. So I ran to my PC to check my suspicions. Goes back upstairs and evacuates the whole floor.

We go through the motions of health and safety before calling the fire brigade....

4 units turn up, two ambulances and the dibble!

    Resulting in this

    And this

Turns out that a power supply failed causing our backup batteries to cook, that means they released hydrogen sulphide gas. Which is really explosive and extremely toxic.

So a few of us that spent time in the room were already suffering from sore eyes and bad throats. Inevitably the ambulances were called for a few of us!

Good news is we are all ok

Yup, they are a rare item plus one of the coolest O&R tools out there.
Got mine from Webhead, a friend and fellow collector who didn't beat me up too bad but it's still one of my expensive items. I am glad to have it!
Here are the pics of mine and what sold me immediately on it
