Indeed, I love it! And to be honest with you I haven't looked at the engine closely just yet, so I couldnt tell you anymore, will be out there tomorrow looking about, so as of this evening your guess is as good as mine..., seeing you have three! Could you tell me where the ID tags are located?
Hello all,
yes it is official, I have a case of the wheel horse bug! My third horse now, I've still got some catching up to do, especially with Mr. Showman..
This one isn't the best out there It needs a bit of welding and engine work, I'm just going to drop a new engine in there and slowly work on the one that's in there over winter then keep it up for a spare. needs the normal, new tyres , seat , decals and paint...
some of you may have seen it on that auction site this morning, but with a bit of discussion we came to a price that i was very happy with! he explained that its not working, its 'ONLY' a lawn mower with no deck... a little later in the conversation he said that he spent £30 on parts for his VW camper last night and if i could just cover him for them that would be great, so i sure enough snapped up his hand and made a deal...
got a few things on my hands now what with the round hood lawn ranger, now this lawn ranger and another little cart I'm in the middle of doing
Just watched your youtube video. Once again great video keep them coming.... You said 100MPH plus. Then i got to searching..., the speed record for a lawnmower is that little honda at 116.57MPH.
Can you beat it!! Mind you where you going to be able to test it to get it too full speeds?
Both your machine and the honda have motorbike engines in them so it's like they are in the same class, not as if ones got a motorbike engine and the others got a briggs and stratton, let's try break the record.. 120mph.
I used to have the local newsagents keep a copy of this magazine behind the counter for me every month, however I only brought it for one main reason.... 'Horticultural section' ki used to like the hedgerow finds and the for sale section also... I used to just flick through the rest, restorations etc.. Have a quick read, however I thought it's gone downhill now, and don't purchase it anymore...
I came across this thread a while back now, and I never even spared it a thought until recently.. In and out of my spare time (not that I get much now) I'm back at college studying level 2 Motor Vehicle Technician (Mechanic to you and I) I passed and qualified my level 1 in training this June.I have until May next year of level 2 them I shall be onto my final year, level 3 until I become fully qualified, I've also been fixing up and restoring another little cart to go behind my lawnranger when its finished, however when I've been finding some time I've been taking some snaps here and there and been playing around with editing programs etc...I'm on instagram as well if any of you lot are on there? I've picked a few of the good ones to show you guys, what do you think? all taken with Samsung galaxy S3
heres my fav pics
little lumberjack
Little Mechanic hard days work now stopped for a nap.
Hello All.
I recently saw a set of original manuals on that auction site, noticing they didn't sell twice, I shot the man an email and an offer and we came to a deal. I now have all the manuals for the little lawn ranger, the owners manual, parts lists, engine manuals, however I also received this along with the manuals, I haven't see one before, and neither have I heard any of you talk about them or mention them?
I'm assuming it's a sales slip, when you purchased the wheel horse, this would of been tied to the steering wheel or something with all the manuals in it etc,
Am I correct? Is that what this is....? Do any of you own one? I guess it's a nice little bit for the collection,
As some of you are awear I was away this weekend just gone at laughton country show, it's not a very big show but it's big enough, a nice varirity of exhibits,.. On the friday, (day of arrival) it was very drizzly, wet, cold... However over the weekend it brightened right up Sunday was actully quite hot...
I didn't get many pictures, however here is a fair few...
An old field marshall running an old bailer and threshing display,
Crawley Ride On Tractor
Wheel horse commando 7
Mini LandRover
Trike, with a robin reliant engine
Two ford tractors, like brand new fully restored.
Farmalls
Massy harris, hadn't seen one of these until now,
Another little tractor I liked was this allis chambers, it was mid size, smaller then a grey furgy but bigger then a wheel horse, not sure on the model? I'd like to find out though....
Strange rover.
These are not a kit, nor is it home built... They are factory made in Japan, a few have been imported into the UK built on a little Suzuki van.
I think he got a bit lost.... Came through the camping field.
Here's a 2 for you land rover boys...
There was also a wedding, the bride arrived by steam, once pronounced husband and wife, all the steamers blew there whistles was rather loud... Haha!
Just discovered this tool today, don't know how long they have been about, or weather there any good, but I know myself the amount of times I've brought something second hand and are working with other peoples work they seem to use 4 different size bolt heads for one thing... So I guess this would come in handy.

I'm planning on draining and doing a compleat refill on my gearbox for my raider 10.
Oil needed is castrol XXL
Is there a modern day equivalent? If so what is it? what oils do you guys use?
Thanks
I have seen the villagers at a show local I think it was 2013 Ardingly vintage vehicle show? Laughton has two shows at the same show ground the cuckoo fayre in May, and the country show in September. I'm there every year at both shows, you should defiantly try make it next year!
Just a question of wonder I have had a few people interested in the Delco Remy dyno starter I have sitting about....
Does any body know what these are worth, it's the first one I've came across seen them about on the net rather old I'm guessing.. All working okay,
I'm debating weather I should keep it or cash it,,,,
Even though they claim on there facebook page that it's drying out as of last night I saw this picture.... Looks like Ian should of gone with his 6x6, he would be the only man with a smile on his face!!
Hello guys,
This old wheel horse was on that auction site a month odd ago... I was just flicking through the completed listings and see it again... I was wondering what rims is he using., are they home made? Or are they from another ride or maybe even a Pedestrian operated machine.... ????
Do you know what they came off?
Any help much appreciated.
Indeed, this picture was posted this morning, as the gates opened, the sky's still looking like more rain... And because of the volume of people it's apparently getting worse by the hour.
Let's hope it stops then! Hope the suns out tomorrow! Either way I think it's still going to be a muddy one due to the amount of people walking in the same place and vehicles driving in the same place, just pushes the mud up through the grass/stubble.
Hoping that it drys out for those of you that are going this year! As of today here's some photos I've seen, very long delays getting onto the site, a call out for all 4x4 and tractor drivers to help out with towing vehicles to there pitches, lots getting stuck and being towed.
These aren't my pictures, they are from GDSF facebook page.
Hello all,
As most if you are aware I'm restoring a little 1968 lawnranger. I've never painted my raider 10 so haven't had to come to this before, I have only painted my wheelhorse snow plough, but I only quickly brushed that over with wicks's own brand 'poppy red' I want to try and get as close to orignial as I possibly can, I know many of you here have sprayed/painted your horses!
What paint do you use? Is there a dulux color code that comes close to match? Or do you use some of the stuff from that auction site? I brought some international harvester white off there when doing the cubcadet.. I see they have internation harvester red? Is this close?
Many thanks
I don't quite think my exhaust is big enough! What say you guys?....
By the way them first two photos where only a joke... Something for you all to look and laugh at......On a serious note.....
Where I've had to mount the engine, the pepper pot exhaust won't fit on with the bonnet on, I don't want to cut the bonnet, do you guys know where I can buy like an extension that will just screw onto the bit that's on there now, then the pepper pot screws onto the extension... I've got one on my raider, but can't seem to find them? Maybe I'm not searching correctly,
