  1. Bases turned out really nice! The green one almost looks laser cut.
  2. maybe some day I’ll see some
  3. What are these hens teeth you refer to?
  4. Awesome- that’s the same bluing I have. Looks great!
  5. That did “turn” out nice. I agree, the rings are a nice flare but not needed.
  6. I’ve thought about trying that as well. I recently bought some bluing solution for a ball peen hammer restoration. Seems like it would look good.
  7. That’s really cool that you have the Octura valve! I’ve never seen one of those before.
  8. Band strap turned out great! You’re cruising through these engines. Not sure I’ve seen that particular TT, very cool!
  9. Band strap turned out great! You’re cruising through these engines.
  10. Are you taking about the metal strap that goes around the generator or the rubber handle/cushion? What tool would have used a 1600 rpm gearbox?
  11. I gotta figure out what project to start next, got the O&R itch again!
  12. I agree, the outboards look way better without the plastic cover!
  13. I’ve never had one of the outboards opened up, not sure which crank setup that is. I do have a partial outboard, I’ll have to see if it is all put together at the crank end or if that’s pulled apart. I’ll try to take dig it out later this evening.
  14. I might be interested in a couple, send me a couple photos once you got one.
  15. Man you’re making fast progress! What kind of tools are you going to put those on?
  16. I thought I had found someone local that was going to make a few for me and then he disappeared. I wish I had a small lathe, should be pretty simple. I did find the right size wood balls for the other style pull knob, even thought about tapering a dowel and bonding it to a wood ball to make the older style knob but just never had time to try it.
  17. Definitely. I built a little test stand for that very purpose. Get them rebuilt and then do an initial run and then on the display shelf. You’ve got a nice pile o’ gold there😉
  18. https://www.ebay.com/itm/285652643491?hash=item4282396ea3:g:DQcAAOSwt4Bk4OEF&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwMGVmVBhrTfYI3%2FCTpKjv8EHj35DcQ1pAq7l2JFce3oKimTFEcw%2Fltjy3vBQiC1UxP6MK8fZRTWzu5nO0iHFrUEsEOvaqwSv4M0QFjTaw2MXIeXL3tFJIjV9qm0SiYrskL3xwAAAS4%2ByEJV7kE18aONubmFVhp4HJWxLF7ekg%2FMH%2BJ4x%2FeKSXzd3AvRzeyANFUOWIDizNBd018fLQxd%2FoJ9eI6Ag31OdnVuWcffd4ONnXfiA8KqDeCOpWzMr%2BjM8Nw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_KVq4ylYw like this one?
  19. I finally bought an ultrasonic cleaner, now I just need to do an engine to see if I get results like you do!
  20. I’ve had this happen so many times, those little needle bearings with the star washer can be a real pain! you’re definitely making me want to pull out an engine and do something.
  21. That looks like a nice clean unit!
  22. That one does look nice and clean! I hear ya, those little roller bearings can be a pain.
  23. Happy New Year John! Great to see another engine getting new life. You’re inspiring me to do another O&R, it’s been too long. Recently I’ve been restoring some old Singer sewing machines with the direct-drive motors (models 101, 201, 301 and 15-91), kind of a fun change of pace and will be useful for a few projects I’m planning with canvas and leather.
