What's a spray can red that is close to the O&R red
I've found this Ace Hardware Banner Red to be a decent match, especially for the older style engines. Search in the O&R section for a Chip-A-Saw restoration and you’ll see what it looks like on the recoil cover.
We need to find someone that can make a few replicas of the lacquered pull knob.
Someone out there has a huge stash of these knobs from the recent eBay parts lots That sold. I’m trying to find someone local with a lathe to see what it would cost to turn a couple. If I had a lathe I’d do it...
This one isn’t mine, sadly. I was contacted for a carburetor diaphragm and gasket. I requested permission to post these photos as I thought you all would enjoy this one. I’ve not seen this winch before, how about anyone else? Looks to be made by Irvington out of Portland, OR.
Finally all back together. I don’t have a natural wood knob so I have a black one on there temporarily. It has really strong compression now and spark but I haven’t tried to run it yet.
Ha, I haven’t tested it yet other than I did verify spark and it’s nice and strong so I’m confident the engine will run. I just wanted to put a fresh new spark plug in it and didn’t have one handy.
However, as a chainsaw enthusiast, I'd point out that the chain is on backwards in the pics.
Ha, nice catch. I wasn’t even really paying attention (obviously) when I was putting the chain on yesterday. I was more focused on not damaging the fresh paint... I’ll get that flipped around today, thanks!

That doesn't look too bad, did you find something for the two tank decals?
I tried reaching out to the guy that makes the replica O&R decals but I haven’t heard back yet. I may try Titch as well. The tank decals should be much easier to replicate since they don’t require a bunch of artwork which is where things start to get expensive. I still have the original decals but they wouldn’t look good if I tried to reattach.
I would cut the hole in the decal and trim some of the black circle off the outside. It will look better than a traditional decal IMO. Certainly not the end of the world to change a newer vinyl decal if you decide on an original, just heat and peel it off. Doubt there's much of a market for those decals to have a bunch made and sell, but ya never know
This is kind of what I was thinking as well. I have the decal and nothing to lose.
I haven’t attached it yet but here’s how it would look. I cut a small section of the border so it fits more like a typical decal.
Wow, that’s quite the overhaul. It turned out really nice! I didn’t know Petro Powered Products made anything with O&R other than the really cool drill.
Not sure actually, still waiting to hear from Titch on the Chip-A-Saw decal, he’s been pretty busy the last few months. I don’t know anyone else to go to.
Thanks for the photos! I’ve tried stripping the paint before but the black goes deep into the grain. I wasn’t Very successful at getting it to look good. I may try to make one. I wonder if a newer style condenser would work. I don’t have a you the ones like in your photo. I found a cooling baffle so that’s one part down...
