ranger got a reaction from Triumph66 in a use for "MY OLD MACHINES" worn /broken parts.
Some pics of 'metal sculptures' made from worn/broken parts from some of the machines we build.
These were made for 'retiring' colleagues in the group I work for. All the parts have a 'history'

Good news for now,...after a little tinker about and a few quid for a little few parts, fuel line, plug etc the little tecumseh h60 is now up and running, in top shape, sourced an air filter now just after a little pepper pot exhaust off the bay,
Pulleys ayy, finding it difficult to source one the right size ATM.

Good idea :hide: Look at all the tax revenue the treasury is losing by all the uninsured car driivers about. How can we possibly pay MP's saleries & expenses without something like this

I think the handbrake will have to have a switch built in to the seat to operate it... Clench controlled

I don't know about 'handbrake', I think you'll be using both hands and another part of your anatomy to hold on!

I may have a couple of spare 12" wheels like the ones with the ag tyres on, you could widen them or swap the centres over.
or you may be able to bore a pair of wheelhorse hubs to suit the reliant shaft.

ranger got a reaction from Ian in Work on my Wheel Horse Raider 20 6X6
Hi Ian, got PM, sorting it out,
Renewing bearings on the BCS flail, pics of the drive pulleys, no keys, the bore of the pulley & the outside of the centre piece have matching tapers, the screws pull the two together very tightly. I assume no keys to allow shock absorption by slipping . I wonder if something like this may help prevent the taperlock breakages you are suffering ? With a lathe I would think they would not be too difficult to makeif an immovable object is encountered

As the General isn't running, just borrow the axle from that

Hi Ian.
These are the wheels and tyres I was going to use for the axle, I suddenly remembered I had them, fell over an old engine and snowblower to get at them, You may guess where they came from by the lot numbers! the wheels I think came off a late old type Mini 12" with a reinforcing plate on the back.

Been a while.... Distracted with this.
My locking diff
With heavy duty hubs
Re bushing the brake pedal, after making it a bit shorter.
Bearing carriers for the intermediate drive shaft
Final strengthening plates on the rear sub frame, just needs painting.
The collection of bits to build the last bit of transmission
That's about it, I have been cleaning and painting four wheels - no pics, it's a bit dull.
Gonna be slow progress for a while, got a weekend with my mates in cambridge next week followed by final show of the year at driffield.

ranger got a reaction from Ian in Good use for a Reliant Robin...
Hi there, Just had a visit from my friend`s dad, Had to fit some new rear brake shoes to "General Lee" He is a 79 years young,ex carpenter & joiner, this is his latest robin. He bought it like this, it was fitted with "dixie" air horns but I took them off as he is deaf as a post and wouldn`t know if he blew them. The amazing thing is you can find him on youtube busking, playing a saw with a nail and singing in Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds. Look for "Sawman".He is quoted on the internet as "officialy the country`s most tuneless busker"!
