It would be interesting to see a Bolens 600 MW styled tractor.

Always good to have a backup and in any case the propshaft would be useful as mine is welded to length as the previous owner had it mounted on the front.......
-
That last sentence is the only reason why I bought the Monty so my dear wife can help me out in the garden whilst I have a few glasses of wine and look at other suitable tractors........in any case garden tractors are like shoes; you need different shoes for different occasions.....
-
Alain,
Two great minds think alike. I just PMed you a few minutes earlier!
-
Alan,
Is this still available?
Thanks andrew
-
Charlie, it it were me I would go for the cream colour for the trailer.
-
I like the ones in the front row Chris; a great collection you got there.
-
Alain,
Thanks for your superb and detailed response!
Brilliant answer and I now know something about Simplicity and Montgomery Wards.
I couldn't find any good photos of a front PTO driven attachment for the Simplicity, A/C and M/W hence the one I posted up.
Thanks
Andrew

I agree with Iain! Best of luck Alain!
-
Iain, here a picture of a Allis Chalmers with the same design as the Simplicity with a snow blower on the front PTO.
-
Thanks Nigel. I believe that most Montgomery Wards were painted in gold with a stripe on the bonnet. I am sure someone with more knowledge than I will give the definitive answer.
-
Alain,
Just out of interest, why is that?
-
Thanks. I thought it was a PTO.
-
Alain,
I just read this post and did not realise your are facing the real possibility of flooding. Best of luck.
Cheers

A nice collection you got there. I like the Mustang.

Here's the manual for the Simplicity LandLord.

Iain,
I am not sure what that is. My first thoughts were that it is the front PTO or the starting handle.
-
Alain, yes I am the new owner. Also thanks for the additional correct info on the model name (Mark 10)
-
Alain, you were almost right! It's a 10 model!
-
You are all on the right lines. It's a Montgomery Wards Squire 10 based on the Simplicity. 101 Landlord. It starts, runs and stops and it also came with a mowing deck that will need some attention. I like the fact that it's complete and it's all original. The steering wheel shape is just so cool.
-
Alain,
Originally I planned to keep the 1254 as found condition as I like the 'farm look'. However, having dropped it off at my mate's house yesterday, he suggested it was on the wrong side of patina. Having bought the 600 in its original weathered look; I am beginning to wonder if it need to be repainted at some point. It need to be up and running before I commit myself to any further expenditure.
I look forward to hear from your research into the paint codes.
Cheers

My old agricultural college when it was predominantly farming based. A lovely situation in the Sussex Downs.

What a fantastic photo of an awesome machine. For a moment I thought you were going to crate your 1250 instead of my 600!
-
OB, the amazing thing was that is exactly what happened and I didn't even have the engine running either!
