  1. That's a lovely find to get an original Bolens manual. Good of you to upload and share your records for others.
  2. A very good and useful tip Mark. Norm, that's a superb looking WH you got there.
  3. That's in good original condition; lovely.
  4. The price of property and land on this crowded island is unbelievable. A property like that in this part of the country would be hitting £400k at the very least; more around the Home Counties. Your friend's house is a very nice and a good price too.
  5. Archeology is a fascinating subject to study. In many ways I should have studied it or medieval history at University instead of what I did which was Environmental Planning and Management. In many ways that degree forged my career in the National Trust; I guess archeology would have led me to do something totally unrelated due to lack of available jobs.
  6. Great yard and good news on your Bolens resto. Look forward to seeing the photos of it being restored.

    Bolens G14

Keep looking out for one on eBay. They do come up from time to time. If you see one, don't hang around.
  8. I think gentlemen, I was first......
  9. Look forward to seeing the list as and when it come out.

    Bolens G14

Ryan, I saw that G14 too as well! Very tempted but I am into the older Bolens stuff at the moment. You made a good choice the with the G14; plenty of grunt there with the 14hp engine in it. A front end loader is on my wish list too. Look forward to the photos. Cheers Andrew
  11. That's interesting as my 800 has been identified as a 1964/65 model by Brian aka Bolens 10000. He said that there are two styles for that period. The one you got on yours and the one on this 1964 model. As you know, Bolens periodically changed their decals and colour schemes regularly. Brian's article on TFs explains all this. http://gardentractortalk.com/articles.html/_/history/bolens-tractors-the-tube-frame-series-1962-1978-r68
  12. PM you Mark. Looking very good and I can't wait to put the finishing touches to the 800.

    Bolens G14

Welcome to MOM and get those photos posted of your G14.
  14. Is is a Trusty Steed tractor? Got there first lads! The joys of editing! The lollipop is mine.
  15. It's good to see he is recognised for his work.
  16. Roughly speaking, any treasure trove is, essentially, the property of the Crown, which is then shared with the landowner and the finder get some monetary value or if there is a stash of coins he may get get one as a keepsake. Usually the local museum houses the treasure find if it is considered 'not uncommon or unusual', but real rare items are housed in one of the London Museums. As I say, this is a very rough interpretation of the law. If there is someone who knows more about this, please enlighten me.
  17. Alain, don't start that again! I see my softly sofly approach have not worked..... It is amazing what these metal detectors guys keep unearthing. A guy recently bought a detector and on his first outing discovered a treasure trove I think of Roman coins. Fortunately he was an honest guy and declared it.
  18. Alain, Thanks for posting this; always useful to know where you can get hard to find items. Cheers Andrew
  19. My late grandfather was evacuated from Dunkirk. He was in the RAF and he had a lot of stick form the solders when the Luftwaffe strafed and bombed them on the beach. He said it was one of the most depressing experience he ever had. Furthermore, he was enroute to Singapore in 1942 when it fell to the Japanese. Another lucky escape.
  20. That's a very tidy commercial Disco. Not many of those around in that condition. I was offered one about 7 years ago but was put off as the owner's dog destroyed the interior including chewing the steering wheel to bits. I thought if that the cabin, what's the back like!
  21. I used Skype when my sister moved to France but I never got on with it as it kept breaking up due to poor internet connections here in Devon (Broadband is very hit and miss here in the South West due to the small density of population. There is approximately a million people in Devon and Cornwall so very little invested here compared to the South where I believed there's approximately 15 million people).
  22. On a very serious note, I look forward to hearing more about this Bolens with the FEL (Philip) and the sale of the Bolens collection plus implements (Alan). I can assure you both that whoever buy anything collectable within the forum, they will go to very good homes with appreciative owners.
  23. Alain, Don't be fooled by its appearance..... A true story. When I was a Head Gardener with the National Trust, one of my gardeners served in the Royal Navy for 25 years. He told me a funny story about how his ship sailed pass an American battleship somewhere. The American captain flashed a signal to the British Captain saying 'What it like to sail pass the World's largest Navy?' The Royal Navy Captain promptly responded 'What it like sailing past the World's best Navy?' An absolute classic. Cheers Andrew
  24. Dear Alan, Thank you for sharing this info with everyone. I am more than happy to take the lead on this offer. I know the others are too busy to take care of this situation satisfactorily and fairly. In any case I am the only one with the correctly spelt name. Yours obedient servant, Andrew PS Alain, the Royal Navy are on stand by to intercept you. I have told them you are an insane illegal immigrant.
