Just seen the video; an impressive bit of kit that. Another must have item for my Bolens. I have used flail mowers in the past on the Kubota and John Deere garden tractors which had larger ones and did a good job too. If I got one, I would use a larger HP engined Bolens like a Bolens H20 model to give a more effective cut. Be interesting to see how yours progress.

Thanks, I will google it on YouTube. Cheers
-
That looks like a hefty bit of kit there; a good find I would think. Look forward to the updates.
-
Daniel, Do you think POMMreg will approve these modifications?...........
-
I will certainly take up your offer; much appreciated.
-
Iain,
That does look like a tidy example and yes you should be proud of yourself that you lasted until October; a credit to your will power!
I look forward to seeing more about this project as I would love to get my hands on one myself.

So relieved I didn't see this technique before I collected my Bolens last week in my HIlux......
-
There have been a few Bolens G10s on the Bay recently if you are interested in them.
-
That's a frightening thought.....
-
My wife also want to know the cure too!
On a serious note, I must rein in my expenditure for the time being until next year unless something stunning pops up. Also I now need to sort out the storage so I can move around unhindered.

Iain, I have been diagnosed with a unusual but harmless bug known as the Bolens Bug. The only known cure to allow ate any distress is to procure tractors and attachments pertaining to the Bolens Clan.

This arrived today from the States, an original sales brochure of the Haban sickle bar. What great periodic literature and check out the lack of H&S!

One thing I have learnt in the Bolens World is to snap up attachments as they come up far and few between!
The 1254 you have got is that all complete, running and restored?
-
Just delivered this afternoon my latest attachment for one of my Bolens. It's a rear mounted attachment originally made by Horwool MFG Ltd in Essex for Bolens. It also came with a prop shaft as well. I am going to give it a good pressure wash this weekend and grease it up. It came from North Wales.

In my opinion, Bolens are great little tractors. The Bolens G8 denotes that it's a 8HP engine with gears. I think the engine should originally be a Tecumesh engine. Incidentally, the H denotes a hydrostatic. The G8 essentially replaced the Bolens 813 in 1973.
There are other more knowledgeable members who can provide more information than I but it certainly a good little tractor and, unlike the Wheel Horse, parts are getting harder to source but they are still out there.
Good luck!

Looks good. I thought I saw one on the Bay in your area?
-
I am really chuffed with it and yes my wife is a lit happier that it's a shiny one rather than that 'pile of rust'. Just got back from Dorset but hope to work on it next weekend. Catch you later,
-
Nigel, I have already downloaded the 800 manual from you yesterday. Very useful. I just need an 800 anmeter gauge for the tractor..
Thanks for all the positive comments.
Cheers

Here are some more photos of the 800 which I unloaded this morning. Absolutely thrilled with it. I will fire her up at a later time.
-
Good luck and hope you get a fair price.
-
Great photos of working tractors. Look like a good day out.
-
It looks like it's a spacious workshop once you got it sorted out. Enjoy the new shack Ian.
-
I collected the Bolens this afternoon. Here's a photo, albeit a poor one, of the tractor on the back of my pickup. I will take some photos when I unload it in the next few days.
-
I can confirm that it's a hefty bit of kit!
