    factory got a reaction from Mike in NC in O&R Tarpen tools
    That's what I thought you meant, just wanted to clarify for others that may read this thread in the future and start searching for a non-existent attachment.

    Here are some pictures of the inside of the clutch unit for the O&R Tarpen Mini Engine power-head, the rear housing & clutch drum are the OEM parts for this...

    ... and the rest of the clutch & engine mounting are standard O&R parts.

    This threaded adaptor fits in the end on the clutch unit, if you have one of these and it's not seized, add some fresh grease to it to prevent this.

    The Tarpen Flex attachments aren't too hard to find, apart from certain ones. Tarpen made PTO units to fit a lot of machinery that used the flexible drive to the attachments, the O&R engine & an electric power head are the only handheld versions.

    This is how I acquired the Tarpen O&R, it was in this Keil Kraft boat.

    When I told the previous owner I was interested in O&R tools he said he still had some of the parts that were removed to put it in the boat, he originally bought it from a surplus shop (which had two of them) in the 1970's.

    The only part it needs is a replacement clutch bearing assembly, if you have a look at the propshaft coupling you'll see the bronze bearing got brazed together along with part of the clutch. I'm also not 100% sure the clutch shoe assembly I fitted is correct but that was all I had.

    Is the Turbair box something you bought recently, or found while searching in the shed?

    I have a similar box but it's so mouldy it's kept inside another box, I did clean up the spare bottle that came with it & sent that to Wallfish to complete his sprayer. I've got no idea if the box can be cleaned without destroying it.

    Thanks for adding that Paul, Tarpen must have briefly marketed the Turbair in 1967, as both of my 1968 Turbair Tot 2S sprayers are branded Turbair Ltd (Waltham Abbey/Cross), as is the 1974 Series 13B engine I have from a later Turbair Tot 2S. All the literature I have is from Turbair Ltd too.

    As for Edwards Bals, there was this Turbair Tot sold a few years ago and another NOS boxed one with the Edwards Bals address on the box (made £245).

    Of course it would be nice to see a Tarpen branded one too or even a catalogue with it in from Tarpen.

    Well, got one done anyway. Took much longer to do than anticipated.
    I cut some of that blue spring steel I ordered for making the carb springs. The first stuff I ordered was too thick for the carb springs and it finally found a purpose. Sliced a long thin piece off then heated and bent the edge of it into a circle to fit in the dogleg hole. Drilled out the old stuff. Put the new spring in place then dropped solder in. The bubble of solder was big so I also hammered it so it would stay very tight. Filed off the remainder and cut the spring to length. Seems to work well. UGH, only 7 more to go!
    I like that gun bluing stuff so I'll probably clean them all up and coat them with that too.

    The non-serviceable bit relates to a seal, the later type of seal that is bonded to metal ring, which can't be removed without destroying the feather valve assembly, due to the bearing being pressed in, blocking access. The service bulletin is S-E 093, which was added to this thread;
    They eventually made the same change to the induction housing too, must have increased profits on service parts, why change two cheap seals, when they could sell a complete new feather valve & induction housing.

    Yes of course

    my engine doesn't come from my car so I don't have the type of gearbox I need and for the pulley I think it's to drive the flywheel on the drive axle

    Thanks for that picture, the O&R branding should date the engine to Nov/Dec 1974 or earlier.

    There are two possibilities for the Chicken Power engine, with the threaded exhaust manifold, remote mounted fuel/gas tank and a silver painted /starter blower housing with toggle switch (the numbers in brackets are the release date from the O&R list);

    Type 13B-340 (7-1-74), this had a flexible exhaust pipe.
    Type 13B-406, this has a tube exhaust pipe.

    I'll have a closer look at the part number differences another day (the carb parts differ between the above two engine types).

    Other engines that it can't be are;

    Type 13A-181, older style engine with round starter mech.
    Type 13B-328 (8-29-73), has five cup exhaust muffler.
    Type 13B-341 (1-21-74), has five cup exhaust muffler, but could also be supplied with threaded adaptor.

    After comparing a lot of different part numbers, I've finally figured out the correct engine type, which is Type 13B340.
    The induction housing assembly was the part that changed, 13B340 used the older type A-13-18 that was used in most engines from the approx 1965 onwards.

    And 13B406 uses the newer type 400563 which has two extra screw holes, to directly fix the feather valve assembly to it.

    Take note of the different spacer used under the cylinder too, these are original.

    Scan of parts list/diagram to follow...

    The sticker on the blower shroud says "Manufactured and warranted by O&R Engines Incorporated 3340 Emory Street Los Angeles California USA"

    Can you confirm if it has AEP or O&R on the decal at the top of the blower starter housing? I'll see what info I have on this one.

    Yes it has the wider piston rings, it couldn't have anything else as they had discontinued the narrow rings and this was the replacement given in the 1975 parts price list.

    The narrow piston rings are A-33-13 (also used on early 13B engines), when these became obsolete they used replacement piston & ring set 400560.
    And the wider rings used on later 13B engines are 200862.

    If the exhaust collector will not move, the cylinder will need to be unscrewed. But make sure the piston is free to move before trying this, as the con-rod will break if the piston is stuck.

    The engine maintenance manual gives details on making a cylinder removal tool.
    The instructions given are to make it from a piece of flat steel 3/16" thick & 1" square, with a hole drilled in the middle for using a screwdriver as a "T" handle.

    I made one from a piece of steel & bar found in a box of offcuts & salvaged bits in the shed. I didn't bother to make it 1" square though, I only squared up the ends and drilled the hole for the bar.
    If the cylinder is very tight I usually use a vice to hold the engine crankcase (use wood or similar to protect the engine from the vice jaws) and use an adjustable spanner to turn the tool. You will probably need to replace the gaskets if you remove the cylinder to prevent leaks. Also make sure that the slot in the top of the cylinder lines up with the crankshaft or is at 90 degrees to the crankshaft when reassembling.

    Here is a picture of the cylinder removal tool I made.

    Here is what I got this weekend at a show. All NOS parts. Still not sure what some of them are for. A friend got them at a show for me and I picked them up this week.
