moogie got a reaction from Aidan in Silage Harvester
This one is a bit of a work in progress, so it may be sometime before it gets finished.
So, started of with half a rolling chassis from a Yardman AN5175.
After a couple of hours cleaning and stripping it looked like this.
Removed rear section of chassis as it isnt required, found a 12hp engine to power it and a 42in deck.
The white masking tape sections are where the out riggers will go to carry the wheels. The yellow handle is where the drawbar will go.
One of the out riggers attached and a lift handle to adjust the deck height made.
This is as far as i have got. The swan neck is fully adjustable to allow transporting behind the tractor or cutting to the side.
Next step will be to find a garden leaf vacuum to help blow the grass up the delivery spout. Mount a battery, make a dash pannel, get a better fuel tank, and tidy it up a bit with a few body pannels.
Well that it for now, might be a while before any more updates as im having problems finding a leaf vacuum at a decent price.

I have eventually found a blower Its a John Deere Power Flow high output fan so should do my job just fine.
Best bit, it was free !
It could do with new blades but i am having problems trying to work out which model it is. I have been on the John Deere web site and done a google search but cant find the correct model, can anyone help ?

moogie got a reaction from Aidan in Honda MadTrax V Twin Quad.. Nearly Finished.. Woo Hoo
It was a pleasure to meet yourself and Nigel the craic was mighty , I could have stayed much Longer but the handbrake was getting too warm sitting in the car so we had to move on. The levels of craftsmanship on WN was excellent, the photos really don't do it justice.

Not a great deal of progress, but I blame that on the heat as it's rather warm at the mo
A couple of extra tubes have gone in the frame just in front of the fuel tank. They partly add some extra strength to the back bone, but also divert the eyes from the engine mount under the tank.
We have been thinking about what to do about the exhaust and the lack of space to fit one in!
There is no space to run any pipes on the N/S without legs getting burnt, there isn't that much more space on the O/S but there is space to make some.. er... space
Anyway, to make the new system I needed to get some more pipe.. As the steel place is just over the road the GT came in handy
Where's the best place to start an exhaust system? I trimmed down WN's 1st system till they were just stubbys sticking out the front of the engine (see the first photo) and then went straight to the back for a bit of exhaust box work..
To make them fit under the seat they needed a little trimming in length, so 2 1/2 inches came out.
Both cans welded up and welded together. They will go a tad more forward so just the pipes are sticking out the back..
I looked out the workshop door yesterday to see a gent looking at WN.. It tends to happen a lot so I didn't think anything of it..
But when the said Gent said, "It looks much better in real life" with a strong Irish accent the brain thought I'd better think something of this...
The said Gent was Noel who as you know is on holiday in the UK....
It was a pleasure to meet you yesterday Noel, sorry WN was not running for you to have a drive (pre book next time ).
And thank you for the humbling words yesterday, when I told my Wife we both got a bit choked up..
The hooligan on the left you know.. If you hadn't guessed (or are just not awake yet) the kindly Gent on the right is Noel..

Have a good holiday. I can thoroughly recommend the Downs around Lewes. Try sampling the local brew, Harvey's.
Enjoy!

You should try a Jeep Cherokee, it has a core plug behind the flywheel, so it is either engine out or gearbox and transfer box out ! The core plug rots every few years as its in contact with an aluminium plate. Its not only Land Rover that comes up with great designs.

Mines a bed for two
As Koen says, it's too JCB
The dirt drag racing is fun to watch, I'm going to have to stretch it by a few inches anyway to get the engine in.
It does and I'm not painting the quad yellow
That's more like it Paul
I think maybe simply "Hold on" or even HYGLI.... "Have you got life insurance?"
It hasn't taken long to tear into this project, the bodywork soon came off..
With the aid of a Nigel, a Rex and a scaffold board the V twin was soon on the bench to see how much work is ahead.
Hhmmm, it looks quite a bit bigger than the original 230cc lump!
So... Out come the small engine followed by a few slices to the frame.
The quad now looks very "Mad Max" with the parts roughly piled in place
Sorry for the blurred photo, with the wheel under the engine swapped for a small trolley I could prop the parts at more of the correct height.
The bottom two tubes need to be level to line things up.. The engine will hang a bit lower than the original but not by much..
Now this is where Honda had thought ahead for me and decided it would be a good idea if their quad engine had the same splines on the gearbox as a CX500 bike engine
Thank you Honda for making life easy for me
A quick silly photo with one of the first WN exhausts bolted on
Honda put the quad exhaust can about here, but as I have two cylinders and two of these cans it makes sense to put one each side
And of course with every build comes videos.. So here's the first... Enjoy

Stretch it out and make it into a drag quad for the dirt. You could put big tractor cleat tyres on the back.

Well it's about 99.9% finished, the fenders and a few other bits have now been bolted
on ready for tomorrow's show so here are a few photos.
The original number plate has now been put back on.

Which end do you mean?
one end is 1/2" JIC, the other looks like ISO A. If they are ISO they are easy to get hold of, but usually to BSP. If you need JIC then it's easier to get pipes made to adapt than it is to get JIC to BSP....
