It's nothing unusual, just an older 3/4HP engine, these Type 133 engines have turned up with a wide range of serial numbers indicating the military were wasting tax payers money for several years and leaving us with plenty of nice NOS engines on the surplus market too.

P.S. What's the Somme (WWI) got to do with it?  We don't want that getting out, as it's bad enough people incorrectly listing them as WWII vintage.

I can email some pics of the chip a saw decal with dimensions later today if that helps. Might have a print of one from usedtoolman which might be better to use for duplication but let me know. Depending on cost, I could use 3 decals for the older saw. It was stripped down but never painted

I’ve been hoping for a long time I would find one of these and after months of constant searching I finally hit gold.  Wish it had the cut-away gear box too but I’m thrilled just to have the engine. It needs a recoil spring and pull rope to complete it and of course a thorough cleaning. I’ll have to come up with a cool display stand as well.  It’ll look cool with the recent brochure that also shows this engine.

The diaphragm pumps fuel. The tank can be lower than the carb. This is my best guess.
Pulse of the vacuum pressure from the case flexes the diaphragm to pump fuel and the amount of air flow past the jet pulls in the fuel. The needle valve meters the amount of fuel being taken.  More air past the jet equals more suction which equals more fuel. More fuel and more air equals higher rpm. The amount of air is metered by the butterfly valve inside the carb body. The butterfly is metered by the governor vein. The governor vein is metered by air flow from the flywheel speed. There are also reed valves inside the engine which control the vacuum and positive pressure of the piston moving inside the case. It's all in the precise timing of the components. At full blast it all happens at 6300 times a minute or 105 times a second.
The choke helps with starting to pull fuel with the vacuum from the case because you can't pull it fast enough for the air flow past the jet to do it. Same for the primer button, it's a bump for the fuel for starting only. But once that spark happens in the chamber with fuel in there, pow, things move quickly.
    Hope this helps.

Yeah, Got'er done. This project gave a reminder of why I don't like to paint. The prep work is tedious and and messy plus after it's done it needs to be handled with care like a new born baby. And the patience needed to wait for it to cure is a problem since I want to always put it back together too quick. The end result is nice to have though.
The first color it was painted was too far off, this color is just a tad lighter than the original paint but a pretty close match. The handle/gearbox cover piece was left original because the decal is complete and in very nice condition. It may get masked off and sprayed but then it'll need bar decals and a nicer bar. I'll find some nicer oil and gas caps for it too.

We need to find one for @JUST O&R to try. We'll get a video of him crash'n something sooner or later.

Was thinking the same thing. It does seem familiar but can't remember if that was a just a web pic or if it was directly from him.

You take a week just to get it apart so there's plenty of time.
I'll get'm sent. Work got crazy busy all of a sudden so hobby stuff is all backed up. Gotta send your parts, Clint some saw parts, get saw pics and a shipping quote for Paul, lost the thread where that guy wanted a carb arm, a couple PMs for diaphragms and need to work on the Mono saw. Plus a whole slew of other stuff. Just not enough time in a day.

Good advice, I have a damaged generator here (mentioned in post #2) the governor malfunctioned causing the engine to rev to silly speeds, unfortunately in the process of trying to figure out why, the generator was damaged. The cause was an early all metal governor vane being bent out of shape, it rattled it's self out with vibration from the engine.

    I have since scanned & uploaded the later Tiny Tiger manual here (section 4, last one);
I still have an earlier Tiny Tiger manual to upload in the future.

Sounds like someone took the starter apart incorrectly by drilling out the rivet, you should never need to drill out the rivet as it only holds the starter reel bearing in place, the spring & starter cord can be serviced without removing the bearing.

While putting away the newly finished Chip A Saw, this one was in a box, in the way so might as well start on a new project. Unfortunately the paint is junk so it will probably need to be sprayed. Chainsaws are lower on my list of collectable tools so that's the reason there's a few need to be gone through. This has been in a box on the shelf and hasn't seen daylight for years, just like that Bee Jay winch from the engine rebuild thread. Did I mention painting is low on the fun list? The 2 tools are a very similar in yellow so getting them ready to do at once is the plan for now. There's also and older type Chip A Saw but that is already done, just not painted. Can't remember if the yellow color is similar.
Maybe @JUST O&R 's decal guy can make a couple of Mono saw decals???????? Huh? Maybe? Huh?

Take a look in the engine rebuild thread. That rod was changed to a newer slotted rod but I still used a plastic cage bearing with 9 rollers. It fit perfect so this adds more confusion.

The big trick is to not loose the rollers when taking it apart like Clint does.
