I now have long tailed tits building a nest in the bush behind the shack, it's great to watch them flying back and forth with bit's of grass and feathers for lining the nest. They don't seam to mind people and will often fly within 3 feet of me..
-
A great find Tom, yep keep her in her original clothes, they suit her
You however now got me wonder how easy it would be to fit one of the "scythe attachments" to one of my Wheel Horse
-
Thanks Mark. I think it may well of gone over if it hadn't been for the tyre sidewalls being stopped by the edge of the trench
-
Yes the 312 might of ended up in a bit of a trench in the field
-
This was given to me years ago my a Gent who also didn't know what it was but thought it would look good as decoration in my shack.. Top bloke
I have never been able to find out what it is, no clues on the internet!
The winding wheel goes round and also slides on the shaft. Something should be screwed on the end of the shaft though I've no idea what... and something clamps into the other end..
It was originally painted black but I think I may of had a can of red oxide in my hand one day
Anyone have any ideas what this thing is for?
-
A little too far away from me I'm afraid Tom.
-
Have you got your shed finished yet Mark?
-
That's fully understandable Chris
-
Thanks Mark..
Part 1 and 2 of the build videos here. http://myoldmachine.com/topic/607-fitting-a-3-point-linkage-to-my-wheel-horse-g-142/

Here's part 1 and 2 of the 3 point build videos... Part 3 coming when I've finished filming and editing it.
-
A great video Matt. I hope were going to see a video of the Case in action
-
-
Not long now, the weathers looking good for tomorrow
-
Ah, that explains it George.. I did think a digger was a strange choice for one of those "styled" top boxes that you see people use on touring holidays
-
Would you expect an less from us Nigel?
-
Glad it turned out to be an easy fix in the end mate, I know you were a bit worried about the engine when I spoke to you er.. was it yesterday or the day before?
-
Now to join the two bit of the drop link together..
The fixed length one was easy.. A bit of Wheel Horse lift arm with some more steel pipe hammer inside for extra strength.
The adjustable drop link needed a bit more thinking about..
As I couldn't find a bolt I thought was not only strong enough, but I also had a nut to fit, I made my own.. The thread is only partly cut here..
My first attempt came out a bit wonky and the threaded bit decided it didn't want to wind in or out!
Attempt 2 ended up with a wonky thread being cut!!
Attempt number 3 involved cutting a thread off a toll I haven't used in at least 8 years!! But it worked..
Two drop links tack welded together.. I know that having to removed a pin to adjust the adjustable drop link isn't ideal, but it will do for now and keeps this 3 point build within budget... which is nowt.. Yep only built with what I had kicking about the shack
Ok, I may of borrowed the 3 point arms from the 6x6m but were gloss over that
And fitted..
All I need to do now is to pull it all apart for final welding and strengthening..
The plan was to make a start on that today, but it seemed a shame to be inside with the nice sunny weather, so Pete and I went for a drive
-
Strong is the only way to go
So where were we? Oh yes the long link arm thingy..
I managed to hold the parts of it in the right shape in situ and tack welded then together.
Here's the link after I pulled it out for a few more tack welds.. With a bit of trimming and strengthening it will look the part and do the job..
Best fit it in the GT and give the hydraulics a try..
Down..
And up..
Then just for a laugh I made some drop links out of garden wire so I could see the lower arms go up and down
I even quickly throw part of the rear bodywork on to check for clearance... Yep, plenty there..
And on to the final part of the 3 point puzzle.. Making drop links..
A couple of these sliver bit's were left over from the 6x6's 3 point kit... A good start, all they needed was a lower hole drilled.
A bit of thick wall box with one side cut out and a hole drilled through.
Gave me the sideways movement..
I needed a couple of these to fit over the lower arms..
Cue yet more 5mm steel.
These should be strong enough
-
It's good to see the Holder out and about again Nigel.
Seeing her (The Holder not Dennis ) on the move somehow makes the restoration you have done look all the more impressive.. Top stuff Sir
-
Strangely for a chauffeur he never wears a suit, tie and one of those chauffeur hats!! I shall have to have words
-
Thanks Chris, yes I'd love to come down and visit the birth place of so many great machines... Oh, and do a bit of haggling
-
I've never seen one of those diggers with a roof rack before
A great location for some digger fun
-
Very nice.. Don't polish it up, it looks great as it is.
-
I will take that as a yes you have space in your wagon Nigel
I will give you a ring tomorrow, just about to eat.
-
I'm looking for a Raider for my next project Chris, so if you need to loose one let me know
