I'll get the engine number next time I'm down the storage unit.

Latest Lawn and Garden Tractor magazine arrived from the USA today, in it there's an article on Gilson tractors mentioning that they are not that common even in the States so
I would imagine even less common over here, so although not everyones cup of tea its well worth saving
-
Landmaster Gilson not forgotten, just waiting its turn in the queue to be looked at...
-
Its arrived !!
The unit fits on the engine, just need to modify the base plate so it all drops on nicely...
-

-
Happy birthday mate, hope you have a great day

A good friend lent me this literature for copying today...

It looks that way, I don't think the drive tube on a Super 88 is shorter than the others (not got one), sorry I can't be more help...
You may have to modify the shaft to get it to fit, there's a clamp on the end of the tube that holds the implement in place
-
That's strange, can't think why the shaft would be longer, unless its been modified to fit something else in the past ??
I've got another drive that fits the smaller 34 model but that is literally the square section shaft with a drive shaft attached, rather than the belt drive units as above...
Does the shaft come out of the unit or is it fixed ?
-
Similar adverts from a 1967 catalogue from my collection...
-
Hello Reiver and welcome
I've got one of the earlier 85 models with a Tarpen drive , can't see why it would not fit an 88 as the shaft sizes are the same...
I'll get some better pictures when I am where the machine is stored
-
Some great items there Webhead !!
-
The unit in the first photo is my Mini Engine sold by Tarpen Engineering in the UK, it has a rotary tiller on the end of it
-
Lovely Little Wonder brochure arrived from the US today
Amongst the products it lists this power head, very similar idea to the Tarpen unit that's part of my collection...
-
I did get the starter mechanism to unseize before it went back together, at a later date I will investigate the engine further
-
Definitely a show on the 2017 list.
-
Bought the latest Tractor and Machinery today, Peter Love gave the section a good write up...
