Wendy and I went to the South Downs Garden Centre at Hassocks in West Sussex today. This is a well stocked garden centre with its own Heritage Centre and Lawn Mower Museum, today there was not only a display from a local stationary engine club but also the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run route went right past the entrance gates. Plenty to see today, old and new...
-
The display certainly got a lot of interest, and will be bigger and better next time out
-
Never did put a finished photo or two of this unit on here, here you go...
Not quite finished yet, but not come out too bad...
-
Yes, its certainly different but does not look like there was any writing around the edge of the decal... perhaps a simplified decal on the later machines ??
-
Most of the crud has been cleaned off the unit, the decal has been removed in one piece (that was lucky) and sent to Titch at Machinery decals for replicas to be made...
The crusty bits on the starter pull and cowling have been built up with Isopon and smoothed down to restore the original surface, early days yet...
Chrome is bad so this unit will get the smooth silver Hammerite treatment as used on the Bridges drill units.
-
Yes I get them from an ebay seller, jimenginedecals, they are very good
-
Tinkering in the shed this afternoon, cowling on first drill now painted so that's back on with decals...
Chrome on both units not saveable so I've used smooth silver Hammerite to smarten them up.
-
That's what I thought
That will be a great help
-
Great, I've sent you a private message Webhead

As part of my O&R collection I have a Little Wonder hedge trimmer with O&R power, also 12 volt and 240 volt versions.
New additions are a period sign for the display and today another 30" blade hedge trimmer arrived with the later style of O&R engine in it...
-
That's pretty close apart from the positioning of the filler cap and the brackets are on opposite sides...
But yes it would be a brilliant start, are you willing to part with it please ??
-
Ooh we do like a classic Ford !!
That is gorgeous
-
Fuel tank is off the second unit, hopefully a friend can make me a replica tank to go on the first one ...
-
Here's my two, recently acquired...
-
Here's mine and Darmics display at Newbury last month...
This was before the arrival of the Bridges drills so the collection will be bigger next time out
-
At least 3 from us Mr Showman, 4 if the R26 gets sorted out over the winter
-
-
Yes the backplate is aluminium David, the bottle would be a tight fit, looks like its coming off then !
-
Bought another Turbair at Haddenham Steam Rally yesterday, I assume the square backplate and cowling are not original fitments ??
-
And just to confuse the "experts" the trailer survived in one piece.
Here's the photos Chris wanted on here
-
-
Have you told Carol the other good news yet Norm ??
-
Hi George
Tarpen only did 12 or 240 volt equipment to my knowledge...
